Taqueria Ciudad Hidalgo — Restaurant in Rogers Park Township

Lousy service from the person answering the phone. She tells you to hold on and then sits there and laughs and talks in Spanish to whomever she is talking to while you are just waiting for her to come back to the phone. She doesn’t even put the call on hold. You can hear the entire conversation.

After 7 minutes I finally hung up and called back. When I told her I was waiting on the phone to finish placing my order she hung up. I called back and then she pretended she couldn’t hear me. My son callled back from his phone and when she heard my voice she continued to pretend she couldn’t hear. When we asked for the manager. she hung up. When we called back asking for the manager she pretended she couldn’t hear and kept hanging up.

This was enough to turn us off. We have been long time customers of this restaurant. The owner really needs to look into how his order taker is answering the phone and treating customers. There are too many other Mexican restaurants in close proximity that treat their customers with respect. This type of treatment will surely run customers away unless they enjoy being treated poorly.

It’s too bad because I did like the food most of the times I’ve ordered although there was a mixup with my last order a few months ago and I ended up eating a pb&j sandwich for dinner.

To be fair, I tried to locate a phone number for the owner before writing this review. The owner has no contact info on line so I guess it’s just time to take my business elsewhere. My friends and family will do the same. I rarely write reviews, but this was the worst experience I’ve ever had with ordering food. I think she recognized my name when I was giving her my card info.

Now that I’ve had time to ponder this situation this is what came to me: The last time I was there in person she was begging me for money. She said she needed it for her niece with no explanation of what it was for. When I said no she charged me almost $10 for guacamole and chips. I should have been done then. I don’t know her name, but she’s very mean and vindictive. Good riddance to this place! ...

Every time I call this restaurant I'm unsure if I'm calling a restaurant or someone's personal line because the lady just answers the phone by saying hello so I asked if this is the Taco restaurant to be sure I'm calling the right place she said said no and hung up,and I know I literally just called through Google to be sure I went back on Google and called again she picked up the phone and hung up again then I called back she didn't answer so I used my other number she picked up I asked to speak to a manager she just held the phone and didn't say anything as I was talking to her, she's very rude and unprofessional I will not be back and I actually like the tacos but she gives off racist vibes UPDATE* I CHECKED MY ONLINE BANK STATEMENT AND NOTICED I WAS CHARGED MORE THAN I SEEN ON THE RECEIPT 🧾 I SIGNED, I GUESS SHE JUST GAVE HERSELF A TIP BUT I WILL BE TALKING WITH MANAGEMENT TOMORROW I'M SURE THEY Don't CARE I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME LADY BEING RUDE TO CUSTOMER AND SHE'S STILL THERE BUT ONE THING FOR SURE THEY WILL BE REFUNDING ME MY MONEY BECAUSE I WOULD'VE NEVER GIVEN HER AN TIP FOR THE HORRIBLE...

This restaurant is an absolute gem for authentic Mexican food! I’ve tried the burrito, quesadilla, and huarache, and each dish was incredible in its own way.
