I called in the middle of the week (on a Wednesday) to make a reservation for that coming Saturday for a party of 15 (we were celebrating my friend’s promotion), and the lady I talked to on the phone was very nice and got the reservation done in a speedy manner. The number of my party ended up increasing, so i thought i’d call and update my party number. When i called to do that, The hostess couldn’t find my reservation so I ended up talking to the manager, Chris, who was very rude on the phone with me. He said they couldn’t find my reservation and kept asking for the name of who i talked to the last time i called, however i had forgotten her name by that point. When trying to recreate a reservation for me in such late notice, at the end when confirming the reservation he had misheard the date and made the reservation for the wrong day. I apologized for the miscommunication and pointed out the mistake, and he let out a big sigh and said that “I never corrected him when he previously mentioned the date several times” when i never heard him confirm the date for me up until that final confirmation. He put me back on hold to try and figure something out, then finally just said “since i never corrected him on the date he repeated back to me several times, i couldn’t come up with the manager who i talked to on wednesday, and i didn’t have proof of making the reservation they can’t help me”. I appreciate everything he did to try and make me a reservation last minute, however i didn’t appreciate how he responded with “if u can’t come up with the manager you talked to or show proof of making the reservation “ - if i can’t remember what the managers name was who i talked to then can’t they just lookup what manager was working that wednesday night? Also, how would I have proof of making the reservation other than having my call log from the night I called? I explained to Chris that i had my call log from the night i called, however that wasn’t “proof of making the reservation”. I also felt it was rude for him to say “you never corrected me when i repeated the date several times” when that was actually the first time he had repeated the date back to me. I was tired of dealing with Chris on the phone so I decided to just try and figure something out somewhere else. My party ended up going to another establishment for our...
Read moreI've never been here before. If you are a party of 4, make reservations. We called ahead of time to check if a reservation would be needed for a party of 2. Didn't have to wait long before we were seated. The place was packed. Our waitress greeted us, and she was off and running!! We order the 6 finger walleye appetizer. Are taste buds were delighted with the crispy outside and the texture. The fish was bursting with flavor. For our main course, we ordered the reuben sandwich and asked for an extra plate because we wanted to split it. Best reuben sandwich I have ever sunk my teeth into. The waffle fries were excellent. Would we go back here again? You can bet your bottom dollar we would!!
Update,July14th 2024. Made 2:30 reservations for 4 people. We were celebrating 3 birthdays!!! Got to Maynards a little before our 2:30 reservations. The hostess was talking to someone else. She completely ignored us. After about 12 minutes, my brother, who traveled all the way from Cambridge, MN, had to ask her to please wait on us!! We were seated and made our order of cheeseburger, 2 cajun pork chops with mixed vegetables, and 2 walleye with mixed vegetables. Our meal was good. However, they didn't have any ice cream or French dip. Our server made the comment that we picked a bad day to come there!! With no ice cream, we could not have the birthday Sundaes !😒 And they wouldn't give us cake on the house as replacement. Most restaurants would offer something in exchange. In our opinion, the hostess was not appropriately dressed for a family restaurant. Maybe for a redneck bar.
July 15th, I called the manager of Maynards and spoke to one of the managers. Told her about our disappointment with the service we received. She said she would speak to the hostess and waiter. I felt like I was being blown off. Would we recommend Maynards? Yes, if you're looking for good food. I would let them know the menu on the website is not correct. Some favorite items are no longer available, and service could be poor. Will we go to Maynards again? Maybe, we'll think twice.
My rating of 5 stars on everything went down. 5 stars for food, 2 stars for service, and 1 star for...
Read moreI'm 62 and have been to many, many restaurants in my life. I cannot recall a wait staff that was as slow/non-responsive as the gals working at Maynards today. Me and my two friends arrived around 2:00 pm (between lunch and dinner) and sat outside on the patio. The place was not busy. Maybe 4 or 5 tables out of 20 were occupied. We waited 15 minutes to get service. Once we ordered, that's when the real wait started. 3 beers 20 minutes. We drank our beers fairly quickly but the severs, seen tending to other tables near us, whizzed right by our table of dry beer mugs (we actually started holding them up trying get some attention). To no avail. The waitresses just kept whizzing by not even glancing our direction. Finally, a waitress stopped by our table asking if we needed anything. We replied with an enthusiastic YES!! (Like our empty mugs weren't enough of a clue) She proceeded to tell us that our previous waitress had gone and nobody told her she was taking over our table. Then we proceeded to wait another 15 minutes for her to return with our drinks!! As she apologized as we put down the menus and decided to finish up the beers and head over to Mama G's for food. It was my first time at Maynards and it was my...
