Jack's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Rome

Generally, we have at least a decent experience which is why I rate currently at 3 stars. Its close to the school and the youngest always wants a snack when he gets out so we swing in often. The last time we went the food was old. There's no denying it. We ordered over $50 in food for a small group. Got to the house and the "large" sides werent even enough for 2 people. There was about 12 green beans. Yup, my kid counted them. We ordered MP and fries and then an additional "boatload" of fries. 1 scoop of MP and both fries were the same size and were less than halfway filled. I called the restaurant at this point and he stated it was old grease and those are the normal sizes they just had to use other containers because they were out of the correct ones. While I get supply is hard to come by and no one should be faulted for that... a large side should still be a large side. If your grease is that old that it's turning your chicken black... probably shouldn't be selling that chicken anyway. He went on to say that he was changing the grease now and would replace the bone in chicken only (because, surprisingly, the tenders weren't black). Since the 1st batch was truly not edible I took what I could get and drove back for the replacement. I was thankful for that much either way. Got the chicken and I can 100% guarantee it was the same oil. Chicken was dark and not the normal color. Either way, it was freshly cooked and hot which is more than i can say for the last batch. We ended up going to another place to grab the sides and I took that as a loss. Oh well, lesson learned. Jack's has been a go to. I truly hope that the food quality (and quantity!)...

I normally have no complaints about this location. However, Friday night on 3/3/23, I pulled in at the drive thru and order a 4 finger combo, after paying and receiving my drink I was asked to pull forward into a specific spot at the front for my food to be delivered and complied. I was the third person parked up front. After watching all the others get their food and having two other cars park beside me and get their food and leave and watch four other cars go through the drive thru and leave(at this point I had been sitting waiting for over 25 minutes) I looked up the phone number and called and explained the situation, ( I was nice, believe it or not) the young man was extremely apologetic and offered a pie...lol. I had attended a funeral that day (in Cleveland,TN) and hadn't eaten all day. My order had been placed at 9:34 pm. I left at 10:15. I wasn't offered a drink, by this time I had drank my soda, I was exhausted from the drive and the emotional strain. The young lady was apologetic when my meal was brought out, but I was truly disappointed. I love Jack's for a "quick" bite to eat, but this was just unacceptable. PLEASE do better Jack's and when someone has waited on a meal that long, don't ask..just automatically bring out a fresh drink and throw in some pies, after all, actions DO speak...

6/6/19//15:20 EDT Cleanliness: Outside: Much cleaner than the average fast food restaurant. 5* Inside: Barely a table needed cleaning. Dining room floor was very clean. The ordering/drink area was somewhat disheveled but an employee was working on it. The kitchen/fry/drive-thru area was messy and in need of a sweep and a mopping and then I saw somebody had started that in the rear. 3.5* The sanitary facilities were brilliantly cleaned, stocked and in perfect working order. Good job! 5*

Service: Assistant manager Jennifer (if memory serves) was a delight. Fast, efficient and able to answer several questions; all while maintaining a cheerful attitude and putting the customer at ease. 5*

Food: 2 piece (dark) meal w/mashed potatoes & salad. Added a chicken biscuit. The chicken in the meal was pretty good. It's batter comes one way, crispy. The potatoes & gravy were standard. The salad was better than expected, with flavorful carrots and lettuce that was shredded into thin strips; like slaw. The biscuit that came with the meal was warm, soft & tasty. The chicken biscuit was hideous. It was cold, very greasy, the biscuit crumbled upon first bite and the chicken was dry, stringy and only about 65% of the center was edible. I was offered a replacement but declined....
