Crave Robata Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Romulus

Had breakfast here last week, the eggs were greasy and cold, the waffle fries were terrible. I asked for a side of rye bread and was told it was $1.99. The server brought the first bill and ran my credit card. It turns out the server forgot to put the rye bread, so he brought a second bill for $4 more. The whole time, keep in mind the server did not check on the food or bring any more coffee.

When I had to leave for my flight, I found the server and asked if he was going to run the credit card for the correct amount, and he said no, he'll just do it from the back end. I asked for a re-print of the credit card receipt, and was told no. I asked for the manager and was again told no.

At this point, I had to leave but was frustrated with the service, so I scratched out the 20% tip and put wrote 0 on the receipt. I check my credit card bill and found out this place not only added the tip back in, but rounded up to the next dollar.

For a place that charges so much for drinks, they cannot make a decent drink. Their menu says one thing and they give you something else. I ordered a drink that said it has vermouth, Woodford reserve, cherry juice served with an orange twist. The drink didn’t have the vermouth, cherry juice or an orange twist. The lack of an orange twist was pretty evident, so they admitted to it but kept insisting that it had cherry juice and vermouth, which they hadn’t used at all or very little of them. They wouldn’t admit that their drink was bad and kept saying that I needed a sweeter drink. No wonder they have such poor ratings. I just went there because it was right next to my gate. I will never step in...

A meal at the airport restaurant is never going to be perfect or even remotely satisfying. The atmosphere in general is unpleasant, food quality is sub par and prices are too high. That's where the service comes in to make up, if only a little, for all the other shortcomings. Well, they don't even have that at Crave. The server was extremely slow and unhelpful, didn't get the order right the first time, took her forever to realize the error which delayed the food even more. The irony here is that the food, by airport standards at least, was better than average but terrible, flawed service can leave a bad taste in the mouth, regardless of how tasty...
