This restaurant is a jewel of India cuisine even compared to some in the SF Bay Area!
Me and my parents are driving north to Vancouver, Ca for our winter break (We live near San Francisco). I stoped in Roseburg and is hungry for dinner. We found this Indian restaurant and decided to give it a go.
As I open the door, there was a strong scent of carry. The restaurant was also filled with Indian music.
The menu has a large selection of food, both vegetarian and meat. And you can select your level of spiciness. We ordered the tikka masala, naan, and chicken curry.
The tikka masala was excellent and paired nicely with the naan. It didn’t overwhelm the naan.
The chicken curry has a liquidy, but also thick texture. It wasn’t too runny and was spiced just right for me (I picked two for spiciness out of six). I would recommend one out of six if you aren’t used to spices.
The waitress was very nice and asked us if we’ll like some utensils and plates for to-go.
The only flaw about this restaurant is that its decor has some room for...
Read moreI love Indian food. I have a tendency to get it everywhere I go.
This place's recipe for Buttered Chicken is probably my favorite I've ever come across. It's one of the only dishes that I cannot resist ordering. I've also introduced multiple people to Indian food with this dish, and so far, have a 100% addiction rate! Lol
Do yourself a favor and don't be like me. I hesitated ordering fish dishes here for too long. Actually, there was another couple there recently that recommended the fish appetizer and on a whim, I gave it a try. SO GOOD! Those two sauces combined in the fish? It is making my mouth water as I type this! This of course led to me trying their fish curry, and again, WHY did I wait so long! Excellent dish, and now a favorite.
On top of all this, the husband and wife that own the place are two of the most pleasant people to chat with. They truly care about their work and it shows. I think they could use the space a little better, as the bar area could really be great. But besides that, this...
Read moreLet me start by saying that this is easily the best Indian restaurant in the Roseburg area. Pakoras (all the varieties), Bhindi Masala, Saag Paneer, and the Gajar Halwa are all standouts. The quality of their ingredients is apparent.
The downside is that they are consistently chronically understaffed. My most recent order took 20 minutes longer than the 50 originally quoted. On a Thursday night. This lack of staff is apparent in two ways: 1) they don't have a front of house person to greet people, often you have to knock on the kitchen door to get attention. 2) in most Indian restaurants Naan is reliable even if the restaurant is subpar. Naan is the thing they do worst because no one is taking proper time with it in the oven.
The restaurant is new and even with the above issues a they are a welcome addition to the area. If you are craving Indian food, in Douglas County they are...
