Usually a great experience at any McMenamins. Tonight's experience was unsatisfactory. My wife and I came in to a mostly empty restaurant and we're seated quickly. The staff of servers seemed very nice. My wife tried to order an Edgefield Cherry Cider (displayed proudly in the entranceway). We were told "Sorry: It's not on tap so you can't order that." The she tried to order the Lavender Cider (which is on the menu). " Sorry: we just switched that one out so can't get that one either." She finally ordered a Blackberry Cider. She ordered the Communication Breakdown burger with tots. Served perfect and delicious 😋. I ordered Fish and Chips and a Coke. I asked for mustard for my fries and was forgotten about. Had to chase the server down and remind her. The coleslaw (which is made with milk) was served in a in small dish in the middle the plate of hot fries and fish. The temperature of coleslaw had to be at least 85 to 90 degrees. The tartar sauce was almost the same temperature as the coleslaw. Fries were well cooked and pre salted delicious. The fish was beer battered and perfectly cooked. Issue with the fish was it seemed like the fries were salted over the fish. The salt was melted into the oil making the fish hard to eat. The hot tartar sauce couldn't even cover the saltiness. When we were settling the bill I asked if the cans of Cherry Cider were available to bye. "Oh definitely". Had one added to the bill for my wife to try later. When it was brought to us it was ice cold making me believe that it was available the entire time for purchase with the meal. It will be long while before I go back to the...
Read moreWe received a generous McMinamins gift card from a sweet coworker so we decided to go to McMenamins for a special dinner Dec. 23rd. We enjoy eating out and were excited to try a new place. As we were greeted at the door by a server that was rude and distracted, there was an overwhelming odr of burned fish. The air was very smoky but cleared out after about 15 minutes. Things happen so that was no big deal. We enjoyed the surroundings and were pleased that our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. (And we saw the server leave, which was a good thing). We opted for beverages that were very good and just a few items off of the happy hour menu for dinner. Salads and appetizers were great with plenty to eat and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. After asking if we wanted dessert, she brought us a take home box and our check. She came back to pick it up and said, "oh sorry. We have been hacked and can no longer take gift cards"! We explained that we just got this a few days prior and it was just recently purchased for Christmas by our friends. She was apologetic but said she didn't know when they would be able to accept them again. We paid with a credit card and tipped the waitress generously. We gave 2 stars only because dinner was tasty and waitress friendly, but we don't plan on returning. Our friends will be very upset that they treated us to dinner and the gift card they purchased...
Read moreLet’s get real here, every McMenamins is kind of meh. They are the fast food equivalent of breweries in the Pacific Northwest. The food is decent, the beer is good, but the prices are ridiculously expensive. However, I will say that this location here in Roseburg is rather charming. Occupying an old train station downtown, you feel like you are walking back in time to an era where train travel was the norm. This cozy spot is great for family/friend get-togethers, and it’s not usually very crowded. My fiancé is a huge fan of McMenamins, so we usually be found here pretty often. The happy hours specials are ok. Cocktails are good. Since moving here to Roseburg, my fiancé and I are impressed at the sheer breadth of great places to eat that are here. This town is really fortunate to have such a thriving dining scene. Coming from the coast, there are way less options and you pay a lot more money for some of the same types of dishes. For instance, the McMenamins that we use to go to in Lincoln City was in a strip mall. You heard me right, a strip mall! At least this location has charm and character to it. I’m looking forward to exploring more of the local...
