We are local residents of Roseburg and have been going to True since it opened. Before we went last night, I looked on the Web to see the menu and saw it had the same things we had enjoyed on prior visits. So I was prepared to order the Strawberry/Fennel/Mixed greens salad with candied walnuts and feta cheese at $13 with a $6 addition of salmon. I was also considering the crabcakes ($14) which I had had before (2 plump crab cakes with a little salad). My husband was planning to order the Southwest Wedge salad at $12 and the the pork wings at $15 which came with a blue cheese slaw. Oops! At the restaurant, there was no wedge salad on the menu, the menu said "crabCAKE" at $16, not $14., and there was no Strawberry Fennel salad to which you could add salmon or chicken or prawns. We ordered the calamari to share with the other couple (had ordered it many times before, and it had always been crispy and delicious, with the little circles and the little tentacle pieces of calamari). Last night, the calamari might as well have been little "frozen fish sticks".....not very many, no calamari crispness or texture and not very good. With no strawberry salad, I ordered the CrabCAKE, and it was, indeed, ONE crabcake with no little salad, just a couple of pieces of frisée and some red onions. My husband's salad (since there was no Wedge salad to order) was very boring....lettuce with some ordinary, flabby bacon and an uninteresting dressing. His pork wings came bare on a plate with out any slaw, which he had always loved, and no garnish at all. One of our friends ordered the scallops (at $30!!!), only to receive THREE medium size scallops, instead of the FIVE that had been served before. The fourth person ordered a roasted veggie plate which seemed very meager to me, although she said it tasted good.
SO....Old menu on the Web....New menu in the restaurant at higher prices and missing several of their feature dishes. Frankly, I doubt we will return. We had always enjoyed meeting people at True for a casual, delicious dinner, but last night proved that those days are over.....a real disappointment for us.
I guess I will have to stop by to ask what has happened. We need True to be a successful restaurant in our small town, but something major has changed now, and they are going the...

I wish I had the waiters name but if he can be found out by the meal we're reviewing; he did excellent!
He served us 2 margaritas (one regular; one blood orange) both of us found them pleasant.
The waiter fantastically recited 3 specials, from memory, in detail. Extravagant though they were, we had already made a choice on menu items and went with Pan Seared Halibut (there was pineapple the online menu doesn't seem to mention) and Adobo-Lime Chicken.
I was told the Halibut was very good by the one eating it and I enjoyed the bite that was shared, especially due to the sauce.
The Adobo-Lime Chicken was astounding. I ordered it because it was the other persons back up choice and I thought it'd be nice to let her try both of what she wanted since I wasn't very hungry and it sounded good.
It's amazing. The flavors are magnificent and the portion was large enough to take some home to enjoy later.
Examples of music played during our stay (music is at a moderate level, you could drown it out with conversation or focus): INXS -This Time Siouxsie and the Banshees - Kiss Them For Me The Cure - The Lovecats And I could be wrong about this one but I think they played Robin Schulz - Ok (no timestamps on soundhound)
I found the experience to...
Read moreWe came through last year and everything was amazing. We were looking forward to coming back but were so disappointed this time. Our server was friendly at the start but then we waited 15 minutes for cocktails, and then waited more for our appetizer. The people beside us sat down as we received our cocktails and somehow yet got their cocktails and were finishing their entrees before we even received our entrees. We ordered 2 of the most expensive plates, the filet mignon and ribeye steak and they arrived cold, not just the meat but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold. The server had them warmed up but the ribeye was now over cooked. I ate my filet while my husband waited for a new steak to be cooked, and then when I was done eating, my husband's ribeye arrived. The food itself was good enough, but for $50 plates each, it was very a disappointing experience. While the server had the ribeye refired, there was no apology. Instead they explained that steaks need to rest which is why it was not hot, but the mashed potatoes and vegetables were cold as well, not just the meat. Maybe we came at an off night, but no effort was made to make up for the long waits and the cold food. We paid our $140 bill in full and won't be...
