Plain and simple this "BBQ" joint needs to learn how to make good BBQ. Firstly, they don't make brisket or ribs, which were I'm from are STAPLES of good BBQ cooking, but they made pulled pork and chicken so we gave it a try. I've eaten more than my share of pulled pork over the years and this was easily the lowest quality(high fat content) and least flavorful(only flavor was the sweet sauce over the outside) the chicken tasted like it was cooked the day before and kept on the counter. The cornbread was dense, and not in a good way, I'm glad it wasn't sweet but I wish it had flavor and didn't seem like leftovers. The mashed potatoes are instamash which would be okay if the serving wasn't literally two tablespoons worth. The brownie was okay. I give it one star for drive through service, one star for the speed in which it was prepared, and one star for the nice folks who served us, but if I rated on the food alone it would be a 1-2 star. For someone who ain't from Roseburg it sure made a bad impression on what quality of food is available. Next time I'll swing...

And, we preferred to support a locally owned business (as opposed to Subway). We especially enjoyed the chicken wraps and pork sundays.
Unfortunately, the new owners have not been able to maintain this value. The quality of the food has diminished (not as hot, utensils are forgotten, less food), the wait times have especially gotten bad, and now the prices have spiked.
Now, I acknowledge that inflation, COVID, Biden, quality of labor, etc have made it difficult for any small business to thrive.
But the bottom line still comes down to return on investment. I might be willing to accept less quality or a longer wait time, but not for a 30%-50% increase in price.
The staff are still nice, and I assume they are trying their hardest, and I truly hope this business will turn around. But I don't anticipate spending money here for the...
Read moreThere are limited options for eating gluten free in Roseburg. Smokin Friday BBQ is the cheapest, fastest, and most consistent option for me and my son to get GF food. We usually buy a family meal, an extra side, and a pound of chicken and get enough food for two full meals for our family of three plus a snack and a few shreds for the puppies. While it’s not my favorite BBQ of all time, it’s consistently good and that counts for a lot when you’re short on time and money.
We’ve been going here weekly for several weeks and they’ve only ever made one mistake - which is amazing for drive-thru meals in this area. They were happy to make it right and extremely gracious and apologetic when I came back.
No one in my house has had a gluten reaction to anything GF we’ve purchased at this place. So anyway: cheap, fast, reliable,...
