Rating this restaurant a 4.5. Has potential for higher rating. This is my second visit, and the first time was so good that I ordered the same meal as a take-out. I ordered the whole snapper during my first visit. It was simply amazing! The fish was fresh, meaty, flaky, and well seasoned. The rice was delicious with the pickled red peppers. But the gravy or side sauce made it phenomenal. It was a rich and flavorful sauce with a nice tang and spice. My take-out was also the whole snapper. They included everything but the sauce for the rice and fish. Total downer. If there's no sauce, please don't serve the fried fish! Lol.. I'm Haitian, and the sauce is a must. On my second visit, I ordered the Ceviche appetizer, a beautiful presentation, but not my favorite. For the entree, I ordered the Lamb chops with jolof rice. Lamb was lightly seasoned, which allowed the flavor of the lamb to shine. Sadly, instead of the jolof rice, my server brought it with mashed potatoes. I didn't make a fuss because it was all delicious. However, the person I dined with on the second visit ordered the snapper, and it too was missing the rich tomatoe based sauce. When we asked for it, the chef said they were out of sauce. It almost seemed like they weren't sure what we were talking about, which was disappointing. The server returned with greasy meat drippings, which was disgusting to pair with fish. My complaint for both visits so far is the inconsistency. The cocktails are also too sweet. I'll stick to proseco or wine. And lastly, I'd highly suggest making reservations, though not necessary. There is a limit of seating, it seems. The DJ or music playlist could be way better as well. Again, this location has the potential to be the NYC BLVD Bistro of NJ. Would be great to have a restaurant with great food, music, and socializing. Last and final, do get the Rum cake with krémas (pictured), probably the best dessert I've had in a long time. It was simple and well thought out. Management, good job so far. My suggestion would be to work on consistency and create a better cocktail menu like the thought put behind the well curated dishes. And have better music. I want to dance in my seat! Lol

I’ve been following this restaurant on instagram for a while so I was really looking forward to celebrating my sister’s birthday here. The venue is on a busy street in Roselle Park. The parking situation isn’t great. They have signs that you can park at Dollar tree or Pump it up but then you have to cross Westfield Ave which is dangerous when there are no lights and its night time. We opted to look for street parking and had to walk a bit of a distance. We were seated rather quickly. We had reservations. The restaurant is cute. Nicely decorated. Music wasn’t too high so we could hear ourselves talk. Service wasn’t the worse but I’ve definitely had better. I don’t feel like our waiter was very attentive. We were never asked if we wanted refills on drinks. We were never asked how our food was or if we need anything else after getting the food. Not sure if the waiter was overwhelmed or that’s just how he is but I’m used to a different level of service even at restaurants with lower price points. Menu…it’s supposed to be upscale Caribbean/Latin food. The sides are very carb heavy. I wish there were more veggie options as a side. On to the food/drinks…we ordered sweet tea, soda and Moscato. I liked my tea. My mom said hers tastes like bleach water. My sister tried her tea and said it tastes like someone didn’t rinse the cup out well. Our waiter never asked about refills or why my mom’s tea was full so 🤷🏾♀️. My family ordered the calamari for an appetizer. I didn’t try it but my 12 year old said it was the best thing he’s had in a long time. My sisters seemed to like it as well. For entrees, I ordered griyo and a side of plantains. My side of plantains never came and our waiter never came to see how our food was so I never received them. The food was okay. Rice was hard but I’m sure it’s because it was reheated. Black rice can’t be made to order but I’ve had black rice at a fine dining Haitian restaurant and it wasn’t this hard. I ordered my son’s steak Medium well but it was definitely well done and there wasn’t any seasoning in it. He was dipping it in the calamari sauce. My mom had the red snapper. She had joloff rice and complained about it being hard as well and the lack of seasoning on her food. One of my sisters had Rasta pasta. She loved it! She was the only one to finish their whole meal. My other sister had lamb chops and a side of macaroni and cheese . She said her lamb chops were over cooked and her food was also under seasoned. We basically left underwhelmed and this is a one and done restaurant for us.

Update 4-30-25 The owner called my wife and I to apologize for what happened at our private birthday party. She will make some necessary changes to better serve her future pivate parties. She offered us to come back and comp us. I appreciate that she cares so much to personally call us and make things right. We will return... Update 4-26-25 - 1 Star DO NOT HOST A LARGE BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE. Their service was absolutely non-existent and horrible. They lack a real party planner. We paid $4k for a private party in their party room. And it was the absolute worst service ever. No one asked to help us set up our party items, place settings, table toppers, or backdrop. The table they provided for our big cake was rocky. We had to ask for someone to get another table or fix it for fear of the cake falling off. They just stood and watched. Our family had to do everything ourselves. I had to ask to adjuat the temperature because it was hot in the room with more people and food burners running. After WE set it all up. We sat down to eat appetizers (great food) but NOT a single server was there to make sure our guest had water or something to drink. I have a torn ACL and had to constantly walk to the single bartender and beg her to get help every single time. She was the only one that helped us. 3 times I had to beg to get water for my guests. We hired a DJ who even agreed that the service was horrible. The floor was extremely slippery. With a torn ACL was worried I'm going to fall. My other guess agreed the floor was too slippery. Once we ate appetizers, we had to get someone to take our appetizers plates. We had to ask for them to clean up our dinner plates. We had to ask for them to bring our plates for the cake, a knife to cut and utensil for guest to eat the cake. We will NEVER throw a party here again. I urged anyone who wants to throw a party to not do so until the owners learn and fix their problems. Weeks before the party, my wife had to constantly reach out to the restaurant to make sure we had the proper food orders, place settings and color scheme. They did not reach out to us unless we called first. Their party planner sucks. The food is the best, everything else is not good. 3-26-25 What a wonderful place to eat high end food in NJ. Especially if you're looking for Caribbean Soul food. I had previously given 5 stars.

I went there for brunch today, and it is now 7:53 pm, and I'm suffering from a extremely bad headache due to the dj music being extremely loud. The bass pierced through my ears and I felt that I couldn't fully enjoy my experience due to the music being at an all-time high volume. My sister and I couldn't even hear our conversation with each other and must've said the words "huh" and "what did you say" over 100 times. The point of a restaurant is to eat, enjoy food and to be able to "effectively" communicate with the people you are spending time with. I was not able to do that today and felt like quality time with my sister was cut short due to both of us being so frustrated with having to scream at each other until our voices began to hurt. Not only am I still suffering from a headache but my voice is half gone. I've never experienced anything like this before from a restaurant atmosphere. You can expect extremely loud music when you are going to a club but at 12:30 pm at what is suppose to be a somewhat upscale restaurant serving brunch it's wayyyyyy too much. My server Ana was kind and the food was just ok but the tables are also too close together for my liking and overall experience with the over abundance of LOUDDDD music, which will cause me not to return. I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, this was bad. Mind you, I asked my server to ask management if they could turn it down and it was turned down for a very short time and then turned right back to high volume in less than 10 mins.
