We eat at this diner regularly...in-person the fries and onion rings are crisp and hot - and overall the food is good, somethings better than others, like anywhere. Feeling under the weather, have folks visiting from out of town so decided to order for delivery.
One if us ordered their honey fried chicken salad, which is favorite of ours. Everyone else ordered a sandwich w/ onion rings or fries. Their app said it would be 40 minutes. I started watching for the driver at 35 minutes.
We literally live about 10 blocks from this place...I called to find out what was going on with the delivery. Whoever answered the phone apologized for the delay but the driver left there with FIVE ORDERS!
[Leaving with three would be risky, but five...you have got to be kidding!! ]
He said the driver was on their way. I called back 10 minutes later when we were still hungry and our food was that much colder - wherever it was...again, whoever answered the phone apologized...mentioned that they were busy. (Oops, not the time to tell me how busy they are...)
The hot stuff was only warm...the fries and onion rings were so soggy from the condensation that comes when you put hot food in closed containers.
I ended up abandoning my pannini and remaking the sandwich with my own bread and the ingredients that were still tasty cold.
The hot Reuben sandwich had to be deconstructed because the bread was now too soggy. No one ate their sides (even the sample of cole slaw had the tangy flavor of expiration (and I love their cole slaw in the restaurant).
The salad held it's integrity (because they packed the fried chicken separately from the lettuce, etc.).
Let me reiterate, we enjoy eating at The Sunrise Diner in-person. But...not every restaurant is a take-out restaurant and not every dish travels with integrity. And, for sure, you don't send your delivery guy out with more than two orders!
No more take-out orders...

(chances are probably not because either you're on the phone or with company right?!) Are they wearing gloves? Do they wash their hands prior to placing your food on the table in front of you? Do they wear hairnets so the food is free of hair? After going from one table to the next, touching the computers menu's and door's as well their writing pads and pens and grabbing the tips (bacteria), well it's time to go make the toast, right! Would you like White, Rye or Whole Wheat? buttered or dry? Guess what?! After all that, they're making your toast bare handed and hands not washed! They don't wear gloves to handle your food, PERSONALLY WATCHING these servers and manager touch your food and rearrange it on the plates ALSO BAREHANDED, and not have a single care in the world about it is incredible! So next time you think about going out to eat a decent meal, be by yourself or with family and friend's, Think twice about how your food is being handled before being brought to your table!! Refunds aren't going to refund you potentially getting sick due to the lack of proper food handling and the extreme amount of bacteria being transferred!! And let's not forget the carelessness in mishandling people's personal CREDIT CARD information. Save yourself the hassle and future potential risk of fraudulent activity if found by the wrong person! Read moreSo it was my first time here and last . So we were seated quickly and the booths are very tight lol so if your chubby like me your belly will be squished . So the waiter kept coming over like 4 times to ask if we knew what drinks we wanted which got a little annoying because we were trying to figure out what we wanted as we were not familiar with the menu . So we ordered the appetizers and we were trying to eat them but as we were eating they rushed out the other food which isn’t always a bad thing because people are hungry or other places make you wait a very long time but I felt so rushed because the table got crowded and we didn’t even finish the appetizers as the other food arrived which was going to get cold . The French onion soup wasn’t that good it’s very watery and clear you can see through it . The French fries were good they were crispy . The Cuban sandwich was very very dry and bland I had to add salt and pepper to it . The chicken fingers were yummy . The mozz sticks was okay . Over all food wasn’t that good not terrible but not worth the price . Waiter dropped food off and didn’t come check on us and so therefore I left a very small tip and got questioned by a lady at the register in front of store and got asked why I was leaving the tip I left . That’s so unprofessional you don’t question someone’s tip . There is always a reason for things . Smh shame never going back save yourself a trip go...
