First and last time. I was highly disappointed by the disrespect my friend and I received from the staff. When we arrived, the hostess looked past my friend and I and spoke to the couple standing behind us first we did not have a reservation, neither did the couple behind and were told that the bar area was the only area available. This was fine. There was an empty table next to a group that was already eating in the bar area and my friend asked if we could sit there, the hostess yes, but the table is for a group of four and would need to be separated, we said okay. She said we could go over, we walked over to the table, no one ever came, my friend started to separate the tables and stopped her and told her you don't work here. There was a male waiter standing next to the hostess who never came over to assist. The hostess gave the male waiter two bar menus to bring to our table. He brought the menus and put them on the tables then walked away, the tables were never separated, our table was never set. As we sat there, we watched the couple that was behind us and and several other people that were in line behind us be seated by hostess who provided them we a bar menu, a regular menu and a drink menu. A waiter even came out to the group that was already eating when we arrived two times to see if everything was okay at their table. The hostess never spoke to us again, we sat there while staff walked pass our table like we were invisible. Eventually the bartender came over and we asked for a regular menu and the drink menu. The bartender came back with only one menu for the two us. His reasoning was that they were very busy and needed the menus for outside. But we are sitting there watching the hostess sit other parties with a menu for everyone, she also came back and checked on them.We are still sitting there with an unset table. The bartender came over and said that he would be taking care us for the evening. My friend wanted to stay, even after ordering drinks, we are still sitting there with an unset table being ignored by everyone accept the bartender. I finally had enough and told my friend let's go. We canceled our food order. A gentleman came over, I will assume was the manager and asked if everything was okay, I said no, we have been sitting here being ignored watching everyone else get service. He apologized and stated that they were very busy, and that the bartender manages the tables in the bar area. He asked if we still wanted to cancel our food order, we said yes, we will just pay for the drinks. The problem with that justification for the bad service is that other waiters were attending to the group that was already eating in bar area as well as people coming in after us. We finished our drinks and left. I actually live 2 minutes from this restaurant in Roselle Park and never knew it was there. It's lovely location but staff is not welcoming. What an unfriendly and unwelcoming experience.
7/29/2023 Thank you! For taking the time to review and respond to my complaint. I would like to further clarify, that the timeliness of the service was not the issue, and I would also like to add that the turnaround was not as stated in your response. The complete disregard and lack of acknowledgement by the staff was the issue as stated in my complaint. You have a lovely establishment, but service...
Read moreVisited Los Altos in the evening on a Thursday. The bar area had a few tables full, I believe because happy hour had just ended. The dining space is stunning, definitely a nice place to have an intimate dinner. We had our 3 yr old with us so itâs definitely family friendly. Itâs newly opened so Iâm not surprised the dining area was empty. Our server Jorge was awesome. He gave us suggestions, and feedback on your food and drink choices. He came back from time to check on how we were enjoying our meal. He was very patient and efficient. I literally have no complaints about the service we received. There was another woman who checked in us, I assumed she was the manager because she didnât introduce herself but she did come to us twice to see if we were enjoying our time there. The food was good. I am honestly not a Mexican food fan. Iâll always have the complaint that the food needs more seasoning because that is what I prefer but that may not be the tradition on the food. Nonetheless I ordered the âEsquites,â a very tasty corn appetizer. I added salt and pepper and it was perfect. The complimentary chips and salsa was good, I do think the salsa need more flavor and spice, it was a little watery. For entrees we ordered the shrimp tacos, and the shrimp enchiladas. Both were tasty, but next time I would maybe try a chicken dish. My husband said the enchiladas were good, they could scale back on the cheese. We both ordered margaritas. One blackberry and one passion fruit. Both were delicious. No complaints. We ordered chicken tenders and fried for my daughter. That was good as well, I like that their strips were actual chicken breasts and not that blended formed into a tender. For dessert we ordered the churros and ice cream. That was good together. I did wish they had like a tour dessert option where itâs a little of each because I wanted to try them all lol. I been there before during the soft opening, so I had already have the tres leche which I do not eat normally but theirs is soooooo good! If it wasnât so hot we would have chosen outdoor seating. Overall the experience was great, and we will...
Read moreReview: A Disappointing Change in Menu
I recently revisited this restaurant, a place I once held in high regard for its exceptional menu and quality. However, my recent experience was profoundly disappointing. The new menu pales in comparison to the previous one in several key aspects.
First and foremost, the variety has significantly diminished. The previous menu boasted a diverse range of dishes that catered to various tastes and dietary preferences. In contrast, the current offerings feel limited and uninspired. Many of the beloved signature dishes have been removed, replaced by generic options that lack creativity and flavor.
The quality of ingredients also seems to have declined. In the past, every dish was a testament to fresh, high-quality ingredients, carefully prepared to highlight their natural flavors. Unfortunately, the new menu features dishes that taste bland and lack the freshness I once enjoyed. This shift is particularly noticeable in the seafood and meat dishes, which now lack the rich, robust flavors that were previously a hallmark of the restaurant.
Additionally, the presentation and portion sizes have taken a hit. Previously, each plate was a work of art, beautifully presented and generously portioned. Now, the dishes are unremarkable in appearance, and the portions are noticeably smaller, leaving much to be desired both aesthetically and in terms of satisfaction.
The service remains friendly, but even the best service can not compensate for the significant decline in the quality of the menu. Overall, the new menu fails to live up to the high standards set by its predecessor. It is a regrettable step backward for a restaurant that once excelled in...
