Had shrimp dumpling (蝦餃), 牛肉腸粉,Chinese donut (油條),and congee. The shrimp dumpling is bad. The skin is so-so and the shrimps had rotten already. This showed that the kitchen wasn’t well managed, letting food go bad and still try to serve them. The donut was totally cold so it’s probably from the day before or earlier. The staff, actually only one server, was well overly busy. The party next table was actually so frustrated by lack of service such that they left after the tea was served. This small restaurant can use some management improvement
Updated 2019-04-01: Came at 5:40pm on a Monday. Few people in restaurant. Several staff working but it turned out the management was rather chaotic. One person waited for over thirty minutes to get his order although the restaurant was totally not busy at all. My party got the order delivered reasonably fast but there was a mistake. We ordered wonton rice sticks. The staff echoed the correct order more than once amongst themselves but at the end the delivered noodle instead of rice sticks. They verified against their record and found that the kitchen made the mistake. With fewer than 4 tables of about 8 customers, such a mistake shows some systematic problems in the kitchen. One of our dishes has tofu and eggplant. The dish was extremely greasy. The eggplant essentially bathed in oil and absorbed a lot of greasy oil. The tofu is rotten with...
Read moreThis place took over the old Quickly's a couple years ago. I could tell instantly when I went in since they did not make any attempts to remodel or even take Quickly's menu off the wall. The boba cup sealing machine was still sitting square on the counter as well. It's like they moved in without Quickly's moving out. Maybe they were using it as some kind of popup? Nope it's a permanent take out dimsum spot.
The food is hit or miss. The shumai, hargow, sesame balls were enormous and tasty but they give you 3 instead of 4. The banana leaf wrapped sticky rice was oily AF, like they boiled it in a vat of oil. The shrimp rice roll was good but the beef rice roll tasted odd.. not like beef at all.
I would come back and try other items since there was more good than bad...
Read moreWe drive almost an hour just to come here to buy dim sum to bring home when I’m craving. I spend $100+ each time. Their shrimp items are delish and don’t have that unpleasant fishy taste/smell that some places have yuck. The har gow and shu mai is huge, they have the cocktail bun which my father in law loves. My favorite item is the crispy yutiao/quay in rice roll, which most of the time I’ve been lucky to get fresh (sooo good and not many places have this dish). I was a bit disappointed with the salted egg/lava bun as it wasn’t well balanced and runny enough. The chao/porridge/jok wasn’t as flavorful as I’d like. I like to get the molasses cake and chicken feet for my in laws. The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf is yummy. Will be coming back...
