First and foremost be aware that Five Guys is aggressively marketing itself here in California. You'll notice they like to tell themselves how great they are by filling their burger joint full of posters about their "success". Does Five Guys measure to the hype? Here's my take.
The Good:
Friendly service. The workers were kind and nice, however this is something that should be expected in any food service industry in California.
The Mediocre:
The actual food isn't bad, but it isn't absolutely great either. I'm not going to go into specific detail to each ingredient. The fries are what most fans rave about, but I found them to be okay at best.
The Bad: The price point is a ripoff and insult to consumers. Let's be real, if you are paying 14$ for a burger, fries and drink then you are paying too much. For that price you can go to an actual restaurant and get something bigger, and better quality for LESS.
SUMMARY:
Don't waste your time or money here.
The service is good, the food isn't bad, but the price absolutely sucks. I can recommend several alternatives to Five guys that offer better food for less. Try Habit Burger across the street, Jacks Urban Eat next door, Red Robin, or In and Out. Each of these competitors will offer a better product with lower cost. Five Guys aggressively markets with online reviews, articles, and even in the location they advertise themselves all over. However, just because someone tells you they are good doesn't mean they are good.
Two Stars: For arrogant marketing, high prices, and food that isn't on par with local...
Read moreWhen a restaurant cooks food that is in plain view sight, You know it is a legit operation of great service because there is nothing to hide. That is Five Guys. When your burger comes wrapped in foil the keep the steamy freshness contained on the Burger, all while the produce doesn't seem to be affected by the steam, but keeps crispy fresh compared to other burger places.... You know it is legit.
Ever heard of Daym Drops, "'The Food Titan" of YouTube? His legendary reviews on Five Guys are on the money and I don't know what more can said. Except to confirm that feeling of the delicious food that is Five Guys. Daym Drops has admires abroad and one fan even creating a YouTube video in songify version. Daym himself Creating a Video Colaboration with the "Super Official" song featuring Five Guys).
My review of the Bacon Cheeseburger matches the feelings of the Food Titan himself. The cheese oh so melted and sticks to the burger. That very super official Crispy Bacon, the condiments that magically stayed crisp and fresh vs. the soggy type of other places. Also had them Cajun Fries.... ever had a time that you bite the fry and then it bites you back? For real!!!!
The Five Guys crew, nice as can be. The service, not too long of a wait. The price, a bit on the high side, but all in all a great experience. Oh yeah... and they support our service members of past and present with a Veteran's (thank you very much) and Actice Military Discounts. Thank you very much Five Guys. ...
Read moreDecided to try Five Guys for the first time, and I came away completely impressed. I stopped in on a Thursday night, and it was pretty slow. There were two gentlemen working and both greeted me when I came in. I ordered the cheeseburger with everything on it and 1/2 regular, 1/2 cajun fries. Both of the employees were very personable, and they got my order out quickly. The food was piping hot and massively portioned. I've heard from others that they're pretty generous with their serving sizes, but this was more than I imagined. I couldn't even finish all the fries, and I'm a big eater. The burger was very juicy and the flavors were perfectly balanced. There were pickles in there, and I often find myself removing the pickles in most of the burgers I get because I find them too acidic, but that wasn't a problem here. All the ingredients went well together. The regular fries were outstanding. The cajun fries were also good, but I would've liked it if they had a bit more kick. I'll definitely be back. Next time, I'm going to try the bacon hot dog which...
