Sumo Sushi — Restaurant in Roseville

I usually come here every other weekend or so, but last night (11/13/16) will be the last time I'll eat there. Every time I come for dinner, the only staff there are one waitress and one chef. Usually it takes 30-45 minutes until our rolls are served, but last night was a record 1 hour and 15 minutes. Arrived 5:00pm, ordered 5:05pm, food served 6:20pm. The rolls were great, but the service was terrible. Two groups arrived about 10-15 minutes after I arrived, and they were served their food before I got mine (party of two). The waitress obviously favored the later groups that arrived and provided far superior service to them. They were a party of four and another party of two. They were older, white adults. They were both at tables right next to us. The waitress went to each table and offered free miso soup and edamame for the wait, "it's on the house!". She offered us nothing. So, I, with a smaller order, arrived earlier, and waited longer, received nothing because I did not look like a high-tipping customer. I do not mind the long wait since there's always one chef making rolls for 10-20 people at once, but the waitress's favoritism for high-tip-potential customers was obvious and...

Returned to Sacramento for visit from Kansas and its even better than I remember! Had Lion King Roll, tasty, hot 🔥 from oven, delicious. Friend hand same, just as pleased. She also had salad 🥗 and sea weed meeting her delight. A Dragon Roll rounded out her Special and she had leftovers to keep family happy.

It was well worth the drive from South Sacramento for. The atmosphere is elegant. There was a live band playing on the patio. (Saturday night) and patio was packed. Its small place, with a waitress and a Chef, but patio enlarges seating, so be prepared to wait, but we didnt care, just be aware.

We came for Sushi, but the menu has an incredible wide variety of options, if you or someone in your party isnt into Sushi.

Everywhere I go seeking Sushi I compare them to Sumo Sushi, and usually I find the others wanting. Especially in varities, and options, taste and freshness, especially for the price. Tonight we came here for Sushi from visiting a friend in Davis, before dropping me off in Carmichael, and my frien returning to Fruitridge area. Show you how serious we are...

This is the best sushi place around and far better than the sushi place further down Sierra College Blvd, in Granite Bay, in every single category: Price, atmosphere, service and most importantly…The food!

I can never understand why this place isn’t packed, because it’s just a delightful place to get some sushi. Last night I had salmon sashimi and the price for both the quality and the quantity was insanely cheap. Value is important these days, and it definitely can be found here. Their rolls are always 50% off, which may sound gimmicky, but they are legitimately about half the price of their competitors and they’re fabulous. Hubby had the rainbow roll last night, and knocked it out! The service is pleasant and proficient, without exception.

Little tip for ya: the establishment next door has live music almost nightly on their patio, and you can get a window seat with a close up view. The bands and people watching are always pretty entertaining, and there’s no cover… 😉
