My husband and I ran into this place after seeking a sandwich shop for lunch as we were roaming around town. We really wanted to like this place as the outdoor setup looked inviting and people seemed to enjoy their lunch. Sadly, we left feeling very uncomfortable and likely will not be returning. It began with my husband and I taking a while to decide what we wanted to order (no one was in line and when the 1 person who came in after us waa ready to order we let them ahead of us). We were greeted by a man who seemed friendly enough, however after a good 5 minutes of us being indecisive, the man asked us what we were having (we clearly were not ready to order). While we were still deciding the man suggested we ordee multiple different idems to which we kindly declined. The man gave us turkey chili "shooters" to try- the chili was good. My husband orders his meal, "The Awesome" sandwich...it had turkey, salami, pepperoni, avocado & cheese. I ordered "The Cali" which was hot pastrami and cheese with Avocado. I made some alterations to the sandwich to which the man said "well now this isn't a Cali"...it was hard to tell if he was joking or not but I laughed and said "yea I guess not." We were offered a cookie to pay with cash, unfortunately we didn't have cash to cover the full bill so we used card. 2 sandwiches, 2 chips, 2 cookies and 2 fountain sodas $44- not too bad. The indoor eating area is a nice size like any other sandwich spot, cute signage on walls. The fountain soda machine was out of syrup in 2 of the 5 sodas offered, no big deal- just figured it was pretty slow while we were there and no one had checked them. The food was brought to us and my husband's sandwich was presented to him as hot....however no where on the menu did it note that it was a hot deli meat sandwich. My husband wanted a cold sandwich and thought that's what he was ordering. My sandwich was fine, nothing amazing but not bad- I also got dutch crunch bread which was real good. When the man came by to check on how our food was, I said mine was good and my husband stated that his was OK but stated that he thought the deli meat and avocado sandwich would be cold. The man said "oh you're one of those guys.....you must be from Canada, are you from Canada?" My husband replied "no I'm from America." The man said "oh because I've had 2 guys from Canada not like their sandwiches hot so I thought, had to be from Canada." In this moment my husband and I looked at each other thinking where the heck are we and is this guy serious? The man asked if my husband wanted his sandwich remade cold, my husband said no he didn't want to waste food but wanted to point out that the menu doesn't state anywhere that the sandwich is hot, unlike the pastrami sandwich that literally reads "hot pastrami." The man replied by stating that anytime cheese is on a sandwich, it's melted and toasted. My husband replied stating that was something that should have been on the menu or informed to him when he ordered. The man returned to our table with a cup of macaroni salad and called it his "I'm sorry macaroni salad"....apologies for the hot sandwich. We didn't eat it as there were onions and celery in it but a decent gesture I suppose? As we ate the man came back to our table 2 more times to check in. Honestly, the man was very overwhelming with how often he came to our table, all his suggestions or commentary, and I am not someone who gets overwhelmed easily. The whole discussion about being from Canada really turned us off from this place, we felt very judged. Oh and the chocolate chip cookies were not great despite being soft...I'm a professional baker- it didn't taste like real butter was used and too much flour and/or baking...
Read moreGreat sandwiches and service. Except last time we were there the same sandwich I order all the time, my favorite, was horrible, the server was horrible, I don't know if she was new or not, but she brought my brother's soup out first, and nothing for me. I waited and waited finally I saw her and flagged her asked her where my soup is, she apologized misread my order she was given, brought my soup out with his half sandwich and said that was my soup to take off his plate, he was done with his soup when just got started on mine. I finally get my half sandwich hardly any chicken salad in it took a bite all I tasted was tins of mustard. This is Guy's over the top chicken salad which is normally great, nothing like this. Have not been back since. I will be going back this is not the normal service or food. Something was different that day. I cannot tell u how many times we have been there lost track and normally all sandwiches are great, there soups, salads all great, it was that one day on a Fri which was terrible. Normally I give them a 5 star rating which I will again next time I'm there. The owner Guy who takes ur order...
Read moreI reaaaalllly really wanted to like this place buuuut.... I was severely disappointed. Decided some soup sounded good, it having been a cold day, the great reviews brought me here to grab lunch for me and hubby... Almost 30$ later & hubby and I were less than impressed, I got pastrami with all the extras which only being a limited assortment 😑, It was a "regular" size which is a lil smaller than a 6 inch from subway, the bread was good but that's really all I can remember about it! The chicken tortilla soup was mediocre at best, my favorite part being the croutons it came with and my husbands sandwich a "large" was an abysmal let down, he said he couldn't tell what the meat was and it was dry, my husband being on the more cantankerous side saw the receipt & went on a crusade through the medical office he works at to inform everyone they're by far better off going to Firehouse subs or even Togos... For 28.00$ I would at least hope to remember the food, well, remember anything except it was mediocre... The only plus side I saw to this place was the gentleman at the counter was exceptional...
