Teriyaki Domo — Restaurant in Roseville

One Of The Most Embarrassing BIRTHDAY Moments of my life trying to replace my order because I wasn't able to stomach it. Having anxiety it was so hard for me to even complain about my food, worrying about them having to replace it. I came in for a birthday dinner with my family. ITS MY BIRTHDAY, I ordered 2 ORDERS OF #14 (sesame chicken roll WITHOUT UNAGI SAUCE). My son ordered a teriyaki chicken bowl. My husband and GMA both ordered a combo domo special, nephew had a #1 California roll SPENDING ABOUT $80. I chose this place cause I (USED TO) LOVE IT UNTIL TODAY! AND the only place I know of that makes NON SEAFOOD ROLLS, Im now forced to find somewhere else!!! I get the SAME THING EVERYTIME I COME HERE FOR LUNCH THE PAST 2 YEARS. Upon receiving my order, I smelled and tasted FISH while eating a chicken roll, not able to stomach it, I gave my son the rolls cause he eats seafood and can tolerate the taste. My son's rice was flooded in sauce so I took his plate trying to not waste money or food and I couldn't eat that either, I don't eat the bean noodles in the teriyaki bowl that's why I didn't order it FOR MYSELF. I tried to complain and was told by DAVID (SON OF THE OWNERS) that I shouldn't have ordered that if I don't like it. BEING SO EMBARRASSED AND NOT KNOWING HOW TO COMPLAIN WITHOUT BEING DISRESPECTFUL! I SHUT UP AND WENT TO SIT DOWN WHILE MY FAMILY FINISHED THEIR DINNER. I NEVER ORDERED A FISH FLAVORED CHICKEN ROLL! I DONT KNOW IF THE FRYING OIL IS CONTAMINATED OR IF ITS THE BATTER. BUT THERE WAS DEFINITELY A CROSS CONTAMINATION WHILE MAKING MY ROLL! I THE FOOD HERE HAS NEVER BEEN BAD. AND BEING EMBARRASSED AT THE REGISTER WAS RIDICULOUS. IF YOUR COMPANY CANT AFFORD TO REPLACE THE FOOD THEN JUST SAY THAT IN THE BEGINNING INSTEAD OF TRYING TO EMBARRASS ME TELLING ME THAT IT WAS A "TASTE CHOICE, AND I SHOULD HAVE ORDER...

My first visit.

The frontage is modest, not bad.

This place is busy during lunch time. So, you know it’s good! The wait is not long (esp. for the quality of the food). The service is … okay (meh)… but certainly not bad. Let’s say they are professional. They are just busy trying to get the orders out efficiently.

And, THE FOOD!!! WOW!!!

I ordered the teriyaki chicken combo platter to go. It comes with choices of great sides (gyoza, California roll, mixed tempura, or even potstickers). I asked the owner’s opinion and he suggested potstickers. Truly excellent fresh potstickers (~5)! The chicken was perfectly cooked right in front of me. I got a fresh salad. The rice was wonderfully cooked and just enough (about 1.5 cups in a half-sphere). I kept saying “Wow” as I enjoyed the meal. For $14 (incl. tax) this is the best bang for the buck if you value quality!

I ordered a number 10 bowl- crispy sesame chicken with white rice, I didn’t think you could out-do my Vietnamese wife’s rice bowls but this place definitely gives her a run for her money! I’ve ordered the same item 3-4 times on different occasions and each time I was thoroughly impressed with the crunch, flavor, and above all else the fluffiness of the rice! Sesame sauce was not overly sweet with great Umami taste! Chicken was crispy, yet juicy, and portions are generous. Don’t pay any attention to negative reviews this place deserves a visit if you enjoy quality rice bowls or noodle plates.
