A Purr-fect Escape: Review of The Cafe Meow in Roseville The Cafe Meow in Roseville offers a delightful and unique experience, perfectly blending the comfort of a local coffee shop with the joy of feline companionship. This dual-space establishment features a cozy cafe and a dedicated cat lounge, providing a haven for both humans and adoptable rescue cats. The Atmosphere and The Cats: The cafe side is a comfortable, inviting spot to enjoy your drink and snacks. The real magic, however, is in the cat lounge. This area is thoughtfully designed for the cats' comfort, featuring scratching posts, elevated perches, and toys. The atmosphere is calm, with staff ensuring visitors respect the rules for the cats' well-being. The stars of the show are the rescue cats, fostered from local no-kill organizations and all available for adoption. Visitors can interact with a variety of personalities, from playful kittens to cuddly older cats, in a natural, less stressful environment than a traditional shelter. The Menu and Impact: Beyond the furry friends, The Cafe Meow serves quality, locally sourced coffee and tea, including creative, cat-themed drinks and baked goods from local bakeries. What truly sets The Cafe Meow apart is its dedication to animal welfare. By providing a fantastic "meet and greet" space, they facilitate adoptions directly through their rescue partners, with adoption fees supporting their vital work. Things to Note: Reservations are highly recommended for cat lounge time, especially on weekends. There is a fee for cat lounge time (around $10.50-$17.25 per hour) which directly supports the cats' care. Rules for interacting with the cats are clearly stated and enforced. Overall Impression: The Cafe Meow in Roseville is more than just a place for coffee; it's a heartwarming destination that combines a love for felines with a commitment to their well-being. Whether you're looking to adopt, enjoy a unique coffee experience, or simply de-stress with some purr-therapy, The Cafe Meow offers a truly rewarding visit. It's a...
Read moreMy 11-year-old REALLY wanted to come here for her birthday party. I read the info online, then emailed the owner to request an exclusive group reservation, which they were happy to do for $150. We had 7 tweens/teens and 2 adults, myself included. (Group reservations must be under 10 people, and groups of children must have 2 adults to supervise.) We got there a little before our reservation so the kids could have birthday treats and hot chocolate. The cafe sells coffee, milk steamers with different flavors, and hot cocoa, plus a few baked goods on the side. The girls chose a humongous brownie and a couple of gigantic T Rex cookies in various flavors. The treats were a hit. The cocoas were ready just before our reservation window opened, so we got to bring them in the cat lounge with us.
We really went for the cats, and we were not disappointed. In the cat lounge, there are cats, cats everywhere! It was a large room converted into cat heaven. We kept discovering more cats hiding around as our hour went by. All of the cats' pictures were on a bulletin board with their name and info. There were black cats, calicos, gray tabbies, orange tabbies, tortoise shells, and solid gray. They were all beautiful, each from a partnering rescue agency. Various cat toys were strewn around. The girls had so much fun playing with and petting the kitties. 😺
If you are a cat lover, you will love this place. The cats looked well taken care of. They do take walk-ins for the cat lounge; we just made a reservation because of our group size. You can also watch the cats through a large window in the cafe if you'd rather not pay to go in. They have cat merchandise for sale too. Very cute...
Read moreI’m pretty disappointed with this place.. I heard good things but then when we got there was told we can’t hold the cats, understandable some cats don’t like it. But then to have your employees hold them and paraded around on their shoulders not a good look. On the website it says the cats are selected by the rescue partners because they will do well in the environment, at least 3-4 cats were actively running from the staff members and hissing at people. As someone who has been in veterinarian medicine and has worked in rescues this is not how it’s done. The price was extremely high to sit on a couch and do nothing while most cats didn’t want anything to do with us. (Most likely because they were overwhelmed, since there had been at least 10 people there prior) Working out the math we paid for 30 minutes an iced matcha and a smoothie, 30$ that’s 7$ to sit on a couch for 15-20 minutes with no interaction. We understand cats are cats, there were some places for the cats to hide and staff members seemed to bother them while they were in their safe places. The owner mentioned in previous responses that they provide high quality care for these cats and they think the price is more than fair. Not only is that not the way to respond, but knowing that you are a company and most likely get bulk food deals, and brand deals, it’s not okay to pretend your prices are fair when you are still a company in it for money in some sense of the word. I’m not mad that we paid, because you need to take care of these cat. I am mad that the staff were giving us rules but then went against those very rules, and that you are not transparent. Practice...
