Dairy Queen (Treat) — Restaurant in Roseville

Update 6/17/24: Were closed at 7:55 despite online hours saying 9. An employee was there and refused to serve me and 4 other customers, telling one of us that they’d been closed since 6 pm. This is the second time this summer this has happened.

This may be the oldest DQ in Minnesota, but it is also the absolute worst.

2023 update: I keep hoping this location will turn around, but it’s still terrible. Still closed at random hours that don’t match the google listing, still fails to adequately staff or pay its employees a living wage. It’s not a stretch to say that this may be the worst Dairy Queen in the US; it’s definitely the worst in the Minneapolis metro. Do yourself a favor and just go to the Original Malt Shop across Lexington.

Original 2021 review: The soft serve is about what you’d expect from any DQ—no complaints. The employees are great—when they’re there.

I live in the neighborhood.This isn’t the first or even the second time that this location has randomly been closed outside of its stated hours without even a sign on the window explaining why.

If you state a 9 p.m. close time, the location shouldn’t be dark and deserted at 8:20. I’m legit confused how this location keeps its franchise with business practices like this.

Suggestion: Actually pay your employees and managers a competitive wage and maybe you’ll manage to keep this place staffed during its stated hours. If fairly reimbursing workers for their labor is too high of a hurdle for you to clear, however, you should at the very least change your listed...

They don't know how to make sundaes (picture below) I ordered a medium strawberry, hot fudge sundae with pecans and whipped cream. Let's start with, there are pictures with small medium and large sundaes on the wall with instructions, so you don't even need to know how to read. Moving on...I received this monstrosity of an ice cream situation that had ice cream at the bottom. All the fixings in the middle and a mound of ice cream at the top missing my whipped cream. It definitely was not a medium, More like an extra large. I did state to the person that this is not how you make a Sunday. I figured I would just try and eat it. I asked for a lid that wasn't given to me and dumped the ice cream over only to see what you see now in the pictures. I went on ahead and proceeded to eat it as I'm tasting and noticing that the hot fudge is actually chocolate. I go back up to the window and ask do they have hot fudge? She says our fudge is not hot. I again asked her well. Do you have fudge because this is chocolate. She then tells me they don't have chocolate sauce. At this point I'm thinking I don't have time for idiots so I just leave. Unfortunately it was a waste of my money.

Came in around 7:15pm the young guy that took our order was very nice and professional so I put a few dollars in the tip bin. The girl handing out orders was not. First They put my medium strawberry cheesecake blizzard in a small cup so it was way higher than the cup itself it made Such gigantic mess and melted all over my hands before I could even eat any of it I just had to toss it. The kids cone I had was supposed to have sprinkles and when I told her that she got and attitude like I was asking for too much. I also asked for a cup for the cone and a bag and again she didn’t hide the fact that I was bothering her she also didn’t give a spoon so again I asked and again she was annoyed. Then I must have been taking too long putting my silly bars in the bag so she just yelled the next order out in my face. This was my first time even trying a blizzard let alone the “special “ blizzard so I’m super bummed with this experience.
