Edit: After getting a hold of a store manager, Ben, the situation was resolved in a more than satisfactory way. I knew it was a fluke and unfortunate circumstances, but they made it rmore than right! Thank you!
First of all, I am very disappointed I have to leave two stars for this business as my initial experiences with the staff was absolutely wonderful, and they were very helpful, that is also why I am leaving two stars and not one.
I was visiting Roseville/Minneapolis from Marquette Mi (Nearly a 7 hour drive) about a month ago. I've been wanting to learn guitar for many years now, and finally decided to pull the trigger while we were in a larger metropolitan area. We were staying at a nearby hotel, and I stopped into the store two different occasions before finally making my purchase on the third trip. I ended up purchasing a Classical Admira Virtuoso guitar with electronic pick-ups. The lowest string buzzed quite a bit, but I was told new strings should take care of that. Mind you, I've been a musician for two decades playing piano and drums, but I'm not very knowledgeable regarding stringed instruments, hence, why I went here to speak with professionals.
When I returned to Marquette MI, I took the guitar into our local shop to have new strings put on, and also to get their opinion. Every staff member who was currently working could not believe I was sold this guitar. The backbend on the neck was so bad, they had no way of repairing it without a very costly humidity treatment which is normally reserved for extremely valuable instruments. They essentially told me my purchase was a bust, and they felt bad for me, and that I never should have been sold this instrument. I called Music-Go-Round right after my trip here and spoke with Adrian, who took my information and was going to speak to a manager. I never heard back from them.
I would have given a 1 star if it wasn't for the helpful staff. I know this wasn't intentional, or malicious, but I still spent 400$ and I live too far to return it. The drive, time, and gas alone would be worth more than 400$. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with the fear of ever making an expensive purchase again unless someone with direct knowledge of the product is with me.
Overall, I don't think you should be turned off by this store. The staff really was knowledgeable. I think I got unlucky, but the store should have done more to make this...
Read moreSHORT STORY: This was a great place to buy a used tube amp - staff was very helpful and friendly - even after having problems with one of the amps I returned and had an awesome experience with a completely different staff.
LONG STORY: I felt like I owed a review to the Roseville Music Go Round due to the great experience(s) that I had with the store. As an intermediate guitar player, I was moving into tube amp territory and wanted to find a decent sounding amp at a great price. In the process, I had an awesome experience at the store.
I initially began looking at a Crate V33 and while testing it, there was a loud whistle-like sound coming from the amp - a sales associate came over and checked the tubes to find which one was microphonic. He then waited for the amp to cool down, replaced the tube and away I went playing again. Shortly thereafter another tube began making the noise. The associate basically said I'm not selling you a broken amp - I'm going to have to repair this. They were really patient and extremely helpful - felt like I could've easily been taken advantage of but I wasn't. Reluctantly, I ended up purchasing an additional Crate V33 amp that was a bit more expensive due to upgrades.
After taking it home, I realized the amp wasn't working properly and I truly could not stand the overdrive channel. I called the next morning and they said, bring it on back - we can try to fix it or you can exchange or get a refund. Upon returning, I decided to take a look at another amp - Dean Markley CD30 - I knew very little about the brand but was absolutely in love with the thing. The only issue was it didn't have a footswitch and on this particular amp, a footswitch was necessary for switching channels and turning on reverb. With an entire new staff at the store, an associate named Paul (I believe) literally searched nearly every amp that had a footswitch to see if it would work with this Dean Markley. He eventually found what turned out to be a brand new footswitch to pair with the amp - I bought it on the spot and was not charged for the footswitch.
THIS IS TRULY A GREAT...
Read moreMy mom posted a comment about this place about 6 months ago about how we where treated and they commented back trying to act like she doesnât know what sheâs talking about and acting like they are so great and stuff⌠thought I would tell the full story! So about 6 months ago I went here to try a eric clapton strat I asked them to get it for me and when they got it down for me they werenât very friendly and I asked them for a chord to plug in to an amp and they kinda just threw it at me then I played for a while and btw i was playing on a fender hot rod deluxe and I was on the other side of the store from the people at the counter AND I was doing to woman tone on the Clapton strat which makes the tone dark and even more quiet and the volume on the guitar was on like 7⌠anyway while Iâm playing the dude working there runs over to me and says "you need to turn that down we canât hear on the phone! Your playing to loud" how tf can that be when I was on the other side of the store plus I had encountered the guy at the counter before at the old Burnsville location and he and the people at that one always treated me like I was stupid or something and they tried to sell me amps in horrible quality and I even got a casino form them that a month after I got it the pickups went out and I had to take a hit selling it! Any way i just thought I would clarify what really happen since they are trying to act like my mom doesnât know what sheâs talking about in her comment and they are being rude and acting like they know everything just like the dude from Burnsville always did when I dealt with him! Anyway I hope this location closes just like the one in Burnsville did! They are rude and hold grudges agains people and act like they know everything and everybody else doesnât and if you ask them to do their JOB they act like you are...
