I have been at Old Mexico Mexican Restaurant before and invited my family prior to attending a Christmas event in the area. I bragged about the quality and service of this little restaurant. Food: Good. Atmosphere: Nice decor. Service: I was disappointed (embarrassed) with the service. My son ordered Queso and asked the status of the order 3 times prior to giving up. The Queso was never served but charged on our bill. It took 10 minutes at the register to verify that the waiter did not serve the Queso and have the charge credited. Requested water and extra napkins; the waiter never served them to us. Requested refills and the waiter started a conversation with other employees in the back and did not return until we were at the register to pay our check (20 minutes later). Also, we had to ask 3 times for our check because we were attempting to leave to attend our Christmas event. Comment: The restaurant was not that busy and could have accommodated our requests without any difficulty. We did not leave gratitude for the service because "TIPS" means "To "Insure Prompt Service" and we did not receive "Prompt Service". Decision: I will not be returning to this...
Read moreMaybe it was a bad day... I don't know. First time there since it changed hands, and it went from my favorite place to somewhere I will never go again. There was not one part of the meal that was good. The salsa was flavorless. Our dish of nachos had WATER on it and made everything soggy. We were told it was the meat juices. Our sample meals had no actual flavor, sauces, or spicy toppings to speak of. The burrito was just ground meat in a shell. The taco had no flavor. I could go on, but I won't. My expectation of authentic Mexican food is a ton of flavor, and we were REALLY let down. I am not usually a complainer, but it was truly a bad experience. That being said, the place is clean and the waiter was nice. The drinks at the other table were HUGE and the patrons raved about them. All reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, including this one. I would like to think it was a bad day for the cook or something. Give it a try, and I hope you have a...
Read moreSo bad. I was really excited to have Mexican food this particular day, and have eaten at Old Mexico out by century III before, which is great. So we ordered an array of items incl. cheese enchiladas, chili rellenos, tamales, chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, plus salsa and guac. All in all about 45$ worth of food. Well, from this I learned not to judge a place by their "sister" restaurant! The food was AWFUL. It was bland! No seasonings. NONE. Every item tasted the same, kind of like a bland watered down tomato flavor. Except the cheese enchiladas which didnt have any specific flavor. Also the chicken seemed really dry and overcooked. Even the guac... was essentially smashed avocado and that's it. Looking back, I had commented in the car on the way home that it didn't smell like Mexican food, but something else. Well I guess that's why 🙁. So, while I'm still a fan of the south hills Old Mexico, I would NOT...
