Update: this is the cleanest hibachi I've been to in a long time. Plates shine, floors aren't sticky. I can't say that for all the complacent other hibachis in the area. Only drawback is the waiter there who is obviously overworked, is not nice. At all. Wife doesn't want to go back because of this person. I love the place though.
The short version: This is NOT the old buffet that was before. It is a full Hibachi restaurant with all of the benefits of a Hibachi restaurant but SO much more. It's beautiful inside. The menu is more expanded than most Hibachi restaurants, and the Sushi/Hibachi meals are very good. Cost wise, they are competitive with other Hibachi restaurants if not slightly better.
The long version: I'm a pro Hibachi diner, and can recommend that people try out this place. With one caveat, check the chicken for doneness. This goes for ALL hibachi eateries. Ive caught undercooked chicken on numerous occasions, and this place was no exception. However, that being said and while it incurred a small delay to us departing our dinning experience, overall I have to give this place 5 stars. The hibachi meal itself was great. I like that you get noodles and rice at the cost of the amount of rice you would normally get. That's fine, and I think you can double up your rice if you opt out of noodles, but try them they are good.
The Sushi, or what we all generalize as Sushi outside of the city, was great. I opted for two cooked 'Sushi' plates. Both were well presented, fast, very nicely rolled and very nicely presented. I would venture to say this is the best Sushi visually that I've had in several years. So, Samurai takes the #1 spot for Sushi within 50 miles (including Pittsburgh) until I am proven wrong. It's hard to say if they are storing and preparing the fish properly/safely - however I did inspect the sushi station and even peered behind it for appearance. It was clean and neat.
The service was a bit slow. Sunday night they were pretty dead. So there was minimal staff working, however they were HUSTLING because they did seem to get a sudden rush. I have a ton of respect for how polite and hard these folks worked, you cannot get frustrated when you see they are busy working hard to tend to everyone, just sit back and relax - enjoy your table conversation.
The show was standard fare. The little guy peeing, sake squirts, food tosses, lots of noise and banging, onion volcano. Great for people that rarely do hibachi I guess.
Only one person in our party felt they put too much pepper on the food, everyone else felt it was very good.
I put the Hibachi here over anything you can find in Greensburg, Washington, Uniontown, and in most areas around Pittsburgh. I do like Benihana in Greentree near Pittsburgh, but they have issues with small tables and are in a bad area with poor parking.
Give this place a chance, and spread the word. You can tell they need the business. There are many like me that didnt realize this was a full Hibachi and recall when it was a meh buffet. It's no longer a buffet (thank God), and is a full awesome hibachi restaurant. One of my favorites.
I should note I've been to Japanese Hibachi restaurants in many major...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time dining here. Really nice looking space designed for higher end clientele. Monday at 6p and only had roughly 10 customers. Service was on point. Ordered a few different things starting with 3 different appetizers and 2 main courses. Decided to drink unsweetened tea. Sushi was mediocre at best, enjoyed the fermented tofu and the dumplings were pretty good. Entrees came with a dinner salad and soup. Both were decent. I had the chicken hibachi and Suzi had the salmon hibachi. My vegetables were like they had sat on a buffet table for 8 hours, all soggy and brown. My rice was scooped into a cup and had been sitting out in the open air forming a dry crust on the top layer. Even after digging deeper it just wasn't any good. The star of the show was the chicken which had been cooked fresh. It was good quality and tasted good. Suzi's salmon and vegetables were both cooked fresh. Portions were above average. We really expected a higher level of food with the prices being on the high side. $80 including a tip. Absolutely need to focus on a higher quality of food and freshness for that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was good and tasty. I like that they give you both rice and noodles with hibachi dinner instead of one or the other. Waiter was very passive, almost could care less. Space is nice, just not a very vibrant place. Very laid back with little to no vibe if you will. Chefs do the normal hibachi demonstration that you will get in these restaurant. Chef was personable thankfully
Taylor Swift is the only music played in the background. This place could have such a better vibe but like the waiter not much effort. Would love to see this place pick up the pace and come to life.
Noticed they do a lot of Door Dash which Iām sure drives business. They arenāt getting the business at hibachi tables. Saturday night at 730 and only 2.5 grills filled. Iād go back but if you want a more upbeat lively experience this place would be at bottom of the list.
No hot water in either of...
