Egg Roll Express — Restaurant in Round Rock

My first impression was pretty good place to grab take out. I was a regular customer for over a year. My most recent take order was July 16, 2018 at approx 1:30pm. The cashier Carlton took my order and I waited for it. Once arriving home with the food... I noticed the combination fried rice had burned black charred old food really NASTY and yuck. I didn't recieve my eggdrop soup. I immediately called and asked for a manager. I was told there was not one available. I advised the reason for my call and Carlton who was the same person who had taken my order offered an apology and advised he would put a credit in to replace the order. I called the very next day to place my order and make sure my credit was in the system. I asked for Carlton and was told he was not there. I asked for a manager and talked to owner Lin who said she CAN'T replace the order. She was rude and unprofessional. I told her the food was horrible and that I didn't get my soup. After going back and fourth with Lin she REFUSED to make it good. I told her that she never will get my business EVER again. It's amazing how nice they can be when you are spending your money with them, but let there be a mistake or problem on their part... they become mean, combative and flat out rude. So needless to say my last impression is I will NEVER spend my money...

Prices average for Americanised Chinese food in the area, but portions are much better. Food was hot and very tasty. My fried garlic with chicken was very tasty, and with white meat chicken. Very large pieces, evenly battered (prepared fresh!) and fried to a perfect golden brown. We also had fried rice. It was dark from a darker sauce, and reminded me of our wonderful tour in Taiwan. Egg rolls were very hot (not what I'm used to getting with Chinese takeout elsewhere). The soups, though. Awesome! Wonton soup was flavoured different than other places, which was a nice departure, along with the wontons being very well stuffed. The meat centers weren't overly-spiced. Well balanced and satisfying. I am saving most of my hot & sour soup for late night or tomorrow. It is delicious! It has a very nice heat to it that's just high enough to keep me from eating it faster, but not so much to prevent me from eating more. It has a really good balance of broth thickness and taste compared to vinegar. I will definitely go there again. I want to try other menu items now. I usually stay with a few entrees I really like, but I'm really looking forward to trying other menu items. I'm a huge fan of fried dumplings and can't wait...

Absolutely disappointed with this place. I ordered online for my family and I when I ordered I didnt pay online, mistake on my part. When my husband went to go and pick it up during this crazy lockdown we have going on, and he didnt take his wallet because hes gotten used to pay with samsung pay which you can use at soooo many places. He called me and tells me they are refusing to let me pay over the phone with his card and making him come back to pick up his card which we live quite away from the restaurant. So I call the store and I ask if I could pay for the order she refuses and tells me no and then assums that we could have a stolen card and no that it cant happen. She goes on to say that only in emergency that she can do that. As if in being on lockdown during a global pandemic isnt emergency enough. Other places right now prefer that you pay over the phone to limit exposure but they seem to not care!!! Seriously disappointed because I was really looking forward to eating their food, but after today no longer going back. And sad that i had to cancel my order.
