I used to love this place until I realized that the company is pretty messed up... My friends gave me a $100 gift card to this place after I gave birth to my son stillborn this summer. I place a sexy order that Poke House completely messes up, and when I call to see what my options are they are rude and unaccommodating to the point where I'm thinking, "Dude, this is the last thing I want to be dealing with as I navigate all of this grief." I accept the order as-is but ask if I can get a refund for the gift card so that the sweet gesture my friends did for me could actually be a blessing for my family...not a hastle. After I explain my situation, their literal response was: "I don't see how your dead son has anything to do with this." They told me to contact corporate, and I cried when I got off the phone. I contacted corporate to see if I could get a cash refund for the card so I could use my friends' gift elsewhere. They said no. I provided a bunch of other ideas that they shot down. I really tried to work with them...I even researched how offering a cash refund on a digital order could be detrimental to companies (there really isn't a reason other than it deters refunds and requires them to have cash on hand). Ultimately, I settled for a digital refund so that the money quietly went back to my friend's account. It seemed rude to tell my friends what happened and ask them to cut me a check, so I just let it go.
Months have passed, and I've witnessed so many strangers be so incredibly kind to our family as we navigate our loss. I'm honestly so fortunate and feel so grateful. This experience is something I still scratch my head about though. They valued $78 over being human. Kinda seems like they desired the less valuable thing, imo...but who wants to go that deep on a Google review about a strip center poke place? Lol.
TLDR: don't tell them if they mess up your order (or if your kid dies...ooph) if you want to still enjoy...
Read moreIf you are looking for healthy, reasonably priced, and totally delicious, this is the place. I had the Ahi tuna and salmon (raw) with brown rice and salad. It's all about building your own sushi bowl (Poke). You pick your base (rice--brown or white, salad, or both), protein, sauces, mix-ins, and toppings. It's about $9-$13 per person. The portions are generous. I love that they offer brown rice! And the salad is red leaf and spinach. No iceberg, Whoot!! You can get 1 scoop of any or all of the mix-ins. Extra scoops are only $0.50. The seaweed salad and crab salad mix-ins are very good. Sauces are limited to 2 per bowl but they fill the whole portion cup not just half of it. Overall, the food is excellent. In-Person service is excellent. Big shout out to Sam at the University store who fix the app's error. You Rock! WARNING: DO NOT USE THEIR APP! Order via web or phone. I made an order in the app and before I could check out it disappeared. So I redid it. And it was successful but then I realized there is no Order History section. I couldn't see the order, it's progress, saved for reorder nothing. Other than a pop saying the order was placed, I wouldn't have know anything happened. THEN I get to the store to pick it up, the app sent it to the WRONG store. It sent it to the Austin store (top of the list) not the Round Rock store (saved as my preferred store). Good news! They redid my order without any hassle in about 10 mins. Again Thank-you very much Sam for your...
Read moreThis was one of my favorite places. If was a little more expensive than some other poke places, but I felt the quality, options, & portions made up for it. The food quality is still good, but has gotten frustrating to order and get what is expected. The last few times I have gone in, the servers have gotten more and more conservative with the portions. Used to they would scoop and put the whole thing in the bowl. Now they have gotten to where they scrape off anything over the top of the scoop. Today I had a total of 5 squares of tuna from the "scoop". When I got down to the add-in's they said they were out of masago. When I asked for a 2nd scoop of crab in its place, I was told it would be an extra charge. When I asked about their masago shortage, the first person told me it was hard to find, which its not. The second employee said the masago prices went up so they probably won't offer it again for a while. So less ingredients, no substitution, & no lower price. I am sure some who never knew how good they previously had it will still be satisfied, but for me its just frustrating. I would prefer they just increase the price a little if that was they need to keep the ingredients available and not have to skimp...
