Location (4.5/5): The location of this spot is nestled in a very busy outlet strip mall on Fullerton Road with a ton of different restaurants. I have to say, the competition between Chubby Cattle and some of the other spots here is quite worth it!
Parking was not the best even though I found a spot within a minute of arriving, but I can see this spot becoming a real headache after 6 PM. There is an underground parking area, but with the popularity of all the restaurants around here, it might be difficult for you to get a spot.
Atmosphere (5/5): We had put ourselves on a Yelp waitlist and it gave us an estimated time of 100 minutes. Well, we only had to wait 60 minutes of that time! We came in and were immediately blown away by the extravagance of the interior. Black walls, dark red trim, and lighting, along with a bright yellow interior showed us what we were in for. It took us a bit to get our table but in the meantime, we could wait by playing ARCADE GAMES. They had at least 6 old-school arcade game machines that patrons could use while they waited to be seated.
Price (4/5): Alright, so this place is expensive. They have three sets of Silver ($55), Gold ($75), and Diamond ($85), with $10 off if you have a membership with them through their app. We opted for the Gold set because I have a Chubby membership from frequenting their Chubby Skewers VERY often and I bring people there a lot.
However, since it was my birthday weekend, if you use their app, you can get a special deal that will bring the price of a meal down to free Silver meal.
Free.
That’s $55 off of the meal. An absolute STEAL on your birthday weekend. In the end, we saved about $60 for our whole meal? We saved a WHOLE AYCE meal right there just by using the membership.
Service: (5/5): Okay, the service at this place is AWESOME. The people at the front kiosk gave me a cute badge that said “Happy Birthday Joshua” on it, which is now sitting on my desk! When they told us to sit down, they showed us the arcade machines, which blew me away.
Now, I need to give a big shout-out to our server, Chris A., who was one of the chillest guys I’ve had as a waiter. He was our main griller for the night and cooked all the meat amazingly. He was with us for the entire 90 minutes that we were allocated for the AYCE.
Immediately, I knew that he was gonna be great because he had a Killua pin from Hunter x Hunter. I’m super into anime and I love pins so as soon as I pointed that out, we were making good conversation the entire night.
Food (6/5): It was SO GOOD and so much more than I had anticipated. They had bars set up in the middle of the restaurant with small things to get. Some banchan like kimchi and bean sprouts (I ate those bean sprouts UP! Reminded me of Ramen Nagi’s bean sprouts if you’ve been there), rice bowls with the choice of curry or minced wagyu, and a sauce bar for the hot pot selection. Now, I’ve NEVER seen this in a restaurant before.
They had a whole fridge of pasteurized eggs.
With the meat, the egg rice was so rich and paired well with the oiliness of the wagyu. I thought from the recommendation I got that it would be too fatty, but the eggy rice cut all of that fattiness away. I was able to stomach way more wagyu than I thought and even though they limited 1 egg per person, I believe that is more than necessary especially if you eat it with a whole bowl of rice.
With my bowl of egg rice, I was able to devour the myriad of meats. Australian wagyu chuck with egg yolk, beef tongue (my roommate’s favorite), pork belly, miso wagyu chuck eye, and Iberico pork. Round after round of that plus some salmon carpaccio, salmon nigiri, and even wagyu nigiri.
Final Thoughts (5/5): Overall, I found this to be one of the best meals I’ve had all year. The food was incredible tasting, full of flavor and quality, and the wait staff was amazing. I had the best time on my birthday and I would bring people here, regardless of the date! It was so good and I appreciate Chubby Cattle for providing such an...

Read moreThis is the biggest location in comparison to the Rosemead and Monterey locations. My friends and I have enjoyed all the other locations, so we finally made our way here to celebrate my husband's belated birthday.
FOOD - We decided to all order the Diamond tier. I am a member, so the pricing was about $75 a person ($85 if you're not a member). Our favorite pieces were the A5 Top Blade, A5 Short Rib, and A5 Ootoro. For our special dishes, we really enjoyed the Scallop Uni, Wagyu Uni Caviar, and the Toro Uni Handroll. We didn't get to try the self-serve Wagyu Curry or Wagyu rice dish, but we did make sure we grabbed ourselves some veggies, cheese corn, and banchan type dishes like seaweed salad, pickled radish, and kimchi. We made our own sauces to eat with our meats, as well. Overall, the quality of food was amazing.
SERVICE - Our service was great from Ryan. He was super friendly and helpful. You order from an Ipad, which is super efficient (instead of having to wave down a server to take your order every time). There are robot waiters that bring out the orders, while servers like Ryan place the plates on the tables or help you cook the meats. He changed our grills when needed, and always paid attention to our table's needs or wants. Thank you, Ryan, for a lovely first time experience!
AMBIANCE - When you enter a Chubby Cattle, it makes you feel like you've transported to a modern but dark journey to Japan. You have samurais and swords everywhere with some added fake flames for effects. I love how spacious this location is compared to the other ones. My friends and I enjoyed the gaming area while we waited and played nostalgic classics like Pac Man and Street Fighter. It's pretty cool how they added on the Chubby Tea addition. You can grab teas to-go if needed.
PARKING - Parking is a bit difficult from Friday - Sunday since it is in a shared lot with other food businesses. It took us about 15 minutes to find parking on a Friday night. However, parking is free - so that's a plus.
The wait time is horrendous right now on the weekends. We went on a Friday night and waited for an hour or so? We ended up grabbing drinks at the skewer spot...
