I lived in Rutherford for many years and love this restaurant! I remember when they first opened and they were very well-known for their blueberry pancakes. It was a lovely small cafe we used to love to go for breakfast and the lines were usually really long to get in.
Lately, the food is just OK and it served quickly and it’s good for lunch and not too expensive.
But this week I ate inside and instantly regretted it. A big group of people walked in without masks! Mind you there is a sign on the front door saying masks required. They walked in without masks. I can understand if you take your mask off to eat your meal but they actually walked in without masks. So that is the difference!! Why would you have a sign that says masks required and then allow people to walk in without masks? Indoor spread in restaurants is one of the biggest way that Covid can spread. And we know that it is aerosolized. So a group of about four people walking in without masks is a problem to me. Mind you there is a sign on the front door saying masks required. Seating was way too close together and amount of people all cramped too close together!!! And not wearing masks at all while waiting for food to one or just sitting around after eating...
Read moreI think this is my first time ever feeling so slighted that I had to make time to leave a review. If I didn’t have somewhere to be, the lying about timing would not have been an issue. We found this place on IG and the pancakes looked great(I love pancakes) so we went to try them. We arrive to the restaurant at about 11:15a on this lovely Sunday. And as expected it’s a full house which is ok because remember the pancakes looked great. We ask to be seated and are promised a 15 minute waiting time, understandably. We sat in our car for about 5 minutes before we called to cancel seating and just order take out. We then were told it would be about 10 minutes for our food to be finished and they’ll call us. After waiting exactly 24 minutes we called for an update and was then told about 5 more minutes. Ok, I’m hungry and she’s hungry so 5 minutes felt like 5 minutes. However after 11 minutes and no call, she went inside because I would rather not engage… Much to my surprise, upon return my baby girl is empty handed and visibly disappointed. She told me that she couldn’t get anyone’s attention at all so she left. So now I’m leaving a review from another restaurant about how all of this could have been avoided had the host practiced honesty instead of...
Read moreI was honestly a tad disappointed today with the breakfast to be honest. I'm not trying to be over critical just want to give a fair review of my time here.
As others described the menu for breakfast is small but maybe for ppl that cuts down on deciding. For me it was fine.
I ordered the Two egg platter with Taylor Ham. I must admit the ham was cooked to perfection ! Best ham I've had in awhile. The eggs were big and cooked just fine. However I was never asked how I wanted them cooked. Not a big deal but just an observation. The "tap" water that was served here was probably the worst water I've had in awhile. I recommend getting juice or coffee instead. This the water you give to the plants. The homefries were a bit soggy and the rye toast was not really rye but it was tasty.
In terms of atmosphere it was a very nice cozy restaurant type of feel. There is only one bathroom and it seems to be tiny.
Service was good no complaining there. The cost of the food was around what you pay not cheap but not expensive.
Parking situation here is not ideal but it's not the worst I've seen.
Final verdict: I wasn't blown away (minus the ham) all in all... this just a...
