Yan Asian Restaurant — Restaurant in Rutherford

Been ordering from here about once to twice a month the past few months, food and delivery are usually good. There isn't any good Chinese food around anymore. So tonight I call and ask usual it's for delivery, she already has my address in the system, small shrimp chow mein for my elderly grandmother, small plain lo mein for my 3yr old, then I order a few other things, duck soup (delicous), a combination meal for myself and 2 appetizers. Plenty of food for me to have lunch again tomorrow after work also. When the food arrives all of mine and the appetizers were great. The shrimp chow mean was in a large dish same as my combination platter!! (SMALL) and no crispy noodles!! The same with my sons plain lo men (SMALL). So now I'm looking for the receipt, NO RECEIPT? So I call them and I tell the woman that answers the phone that they sent me these big dishes not smalls? I should not be paying for the big dishes I did not order! She told me send them back and she will make me ones that are the right size in 15-20 minutes. I told her she is not allowed to take back food that she has delivery and left at an address. She told me "don't worry, we not gonna use it again. I just wanna make sure you get the right size". ACTUALLY How about speaking to the woman that took my order and then repeated it back to me then overcharged me and the driver who didn't give me the receipt. So someone knew they screwed it up and is trying to make me pay for it. Not going to happen. She told me I got what I paid for. Yes but not what I ordered! So be very careful ordering...

Ordered for a pick-up on a Sunday at 1:30. There is still no indoor dining right now (as of August 2021), but we were looking to do some takeout anyway. I was craving some pad Thai, so I got that, even though I knew it wasn't going to be very good since this is one of those "fusion" type restaurants. To my surprise, it was actually not terrible. The noodles had the right consistency to them, and they gave a lot of shrimp. It was super oily though, which was expected. They also give huge portions. I ate some for lunch and dinner, and still had a bit left for lunch the next day. I appreciated that they had lunch specials on Sundays too because mine came with a choice of a veggie or pork egg roll or a coke. Even though the pork egg roll was pretty terrible, I still appreciate that it came with an extra. But you should definitely opt for a soda instead. My husband had the three roll sushi special, which was very average.

Just ordered a vegetable fried rice (I am vegetarian) and that's what it said on the receipt - VEGETABLE. As I am eating it, I see a few big chunks of what appears to be beef. At this point I am disgusted but understand that people make mistakes. So we call the restaurant and explain what happened. They start questioning us as to exactly what kind of meat it is and what color. Then they have the audacity to tell us it's not possible since the order says vegetable all while I am staring at the pieces of whatever meat that is picked out of the box. No apology, the guy just sounded annoyed and said that they can come and pick that order up and make us another one. No thank you, I've had enough. Not looking to get free food, not even looking for a refund, but an apology would be nice. The moment I said that I do not want another order they just said ok and hung up. Very disappointing especially since we have ordered from that place many times before and never had an issue. Definitely will never order from...
