This has always been out "Go-To" hotel when visiting my husband's home town in Carlstadt, NJ. We are 100% loyal Hilton Diamond members. We checked in on Nov 10 and stayed through the 16th. Day 1, we tossed our luggage in the room and went out for the day, then to a late dinner at Park Tavern. Arrived back at the room (603) late after 10:00 p.m. I went to unpack and throw a napkin away under the kitchen sink. As soon as I opened the door I could smell a strong smell of mold. The entire cabinet was filled with mold. What is worse is housekeeping has to open this cabinet to put the garbage can in and change the garbage bags. The smell was so strong. We immediately called and reported to the front desk. They wanted us to change rooms that night. We were too tired. Packed the room up that morning and moved to room 604 directly across the hall. That same day, the room was re rented to another couple. š We put our stuff in our room as we were heading out for the day again. Went out for the day, came in very late again and went right to bed. Husband showered the next day , then an hour later, I showered. The entire ceiling started to leak where the light fixture is in the bathroom shower area from the ceiling and through the fixture ND the ceiling patch work stay peeling back. It was apparent there was already a past issue as the ceiling had been patched. It appears the real water issue had never been fixed and was just patched over. This is a huge concern for any guests, especially us, as this was my first trip since being released as a breast cancer patient. My immune system isn't 100%, but we needed this trip to our favorite area NJ/NY. We again called the desk and the offered to change our room AGAIN!. We left a Message for management to call us. We again had to pack everything pack up, so when we got in we could change rooms once again. We went to the desk when we got in at 12:30 a.m. Jeremiah on the Desk Gave us his key to change rooms from 6th floor to the 7th floor so we didn't get locked out of 604. We had to change from 1 floor to the next and pack up. Within a few minutes, the room phone was ringing asking for his key. I was tired and very short w him and said "you're kidding, right". Not one person at the hotel offered to move our stuff or assist in moving our stuff. This made us late visiting family and took many hours our of our trip, calling and changing rooms. Riza, manager, never reached out to us to date. Tamarra, shift manager was so condescending. We were offered 20,000 points when we paid 200,000 points for this stay. We were told by Tamarra that thing happen, Covid, and numerous others excuses. As we were coming down the front Lobby, Riva, Sales Manager was assisting a guest checking In. Had her purse in hand. Immediately left and never addressed our issues. Tamarra made an Insulting, file attempt and made it clear that if she gave us points back it was costing the hotel money. We told them their offer of 20,000 points was I sulting to a loyal customer and it is apparent there is management and water issues here. At one point, I stated to Tamarra that I would call the East Rutherford Department of Health and show them the pics of the mold issues & let them handle the issues. Because of the way Tamarra handled the situation & lack of phone calls by management, we did call the department of health & reported the issue. We received 189,000 points back for this stay. This just appeared in our account and still never received a phone call from Riza. I asked Tamarra how the room across from us was rerented. She said the mold issue was treated. I asked how, she said it was treated. These issues are from leaking pipes, which is clear from my pics. We understand this hotel is dated, but mold is unacceptable for a Hilton Hotel, let alone any Hotel. Tamarra stated several times that they are doing the best they can. Still no phone call from the hotel or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWonderful stay! Huge rooms with comfy beds and extra blankets. It was nice having the bedroom separate from the rest of the unit. And I love the shower/tub/toilet separate from the sink/vanity area. While my kiddo showered I could still get ready without having to worry about sweating like crazy from the shower steam lol.. Plenty of bathroom necessities provided (shampoo, conditioner, body gel/soap, lotion, towels, hair dryer and waste baskets). Hot water came quickly and never ran out. The kitchen had all the basic cookware/dinnerware. Full size fridge, flat top stove and microwave furnished. The only thing missing, that would have been nice, was liquid dish soap. Instead, I cut open the dishwasher packet to wash the few dishes we did use. Which actually worked out better than expected. Great distant view of NYC from our room. As for the rest of the hotel.. The staff was friendly. Check-in / Check-out were quick and easy. The weight room and sauna were really nice. The indoor pool area is okay. Strong chlorine/bromine smell in the air (common for indoor water pools/parks). The bathroom by the pool needed some attention. There is a shower in the main pool area, with warm water, to rinse off (extra towels are provided for these areas). The included breakfast was just okay (I was surprised to see they only had waffles for 1 of the 2 days we were there. I always thought waffles were like a hotel breakfast staple). The muffins/bagels were a decent alternate. Plenty of places to sit. Overall the hotel was perfect for us. Nearby: A shopping center with a couple restaurants, a burger joint, a grocery, a dollar store and a liquor store (couple others as well). Also close to the bus stop (162/163) that takes you directly to the Port Authority terminal in Manhattan. The hotel will provide free shuttle service to the bus stop if you don't want to walk. No late night shuttle so we (2 women in our 20's/40's) walked from where the bus dropped us off. It was a short peaceful, quiet walk (maybe 5-7minutes). I definitely recommend...
