This was a wow. When my husband recommended sandwiches for lunch I thought it odd. He's not a big sandwich fan on weekends because he eats them all week long for lunches at work.... so I was a little shocked. I went along with it and boy I'm happy I did! I ordered the pastrami on rye with Swiss cheese and brown mustard. It was utter perfection! I am a connoisseur of smoked meats (Montreal smoked meat being my favorite), but this was a wow. It was tender, flavourful and had just the right amount of juicy-ness. It was literally melt in your mouth. It was the perfect sandwich! 🥰 What makes this place great is how customizable the sandwiches are! This is the fine dining sandwich place compared to a Subway (for example). I couldn't eat it all. I took some to go and had it an hour or two later (and it as awesome a second time)! I would absolutely go out of my way to go there again. Kudos to a well done...

Definitely think you should check this place out if you’re in the Rutland area. It was a little out of our way but someone else’s review that mentioned a delicious Reuben intrigued us. I got the Reuben, my wife got the Rachael (which is a Reuben but with turkey instead of corned beef), and my kids got BLTs. All of the sandwiches were great. Food wise, these guys are 5 stars.

The bill was a little pricier than I expected. Still a much better alternative than fast food places, but be prepared to drop a decent amount of green per sandwich. For one or two people, you probably wouldn’t bat an eye. If you can swing it, it’s worth the price.

I rarely eat deli sandwich meats anymore because of added preservatives. I do love oven roasted turkey sandwiches after Thanksgiving, and that's basically what I got today at Ernies. Can't wait to come back to try the other sandwiches on the menu. Thank you for spending the extra time it takes to do it right. 👍

Update: 3/3/20 I just had the #Reuben from #HandcarvedbyErnie in Rutland VT. Many of the reviews say it's the best they've ever had. I agree.
