Orientaste — Restaurant in Rutland City

Always loved this place when it was in the mall so I was excited to eat their food now that they have their own location! I ordered a large General Tso's Chicken and my wife order Sweet & Sour Chicken Combo for takeout. Total came to $16.50. Staff was very friendly as always and we had our order very quickly.

The Sweet & Sour Chicken was good and the pork fried rice it came with was also good. Generous portions. Sauce was a little strong on the ginger, but it was acceptable.

The General Tso's Chicken was atrocious. Hefty portion of a jumbled mess of loose soggy breading, dry hard chicken and sticky sauce. The flavor was alright, but it was just a mess and most pieces hard to chew.

I was the only takeout customer at lunch. I was a little concerned at the lack of business and the unassuming exterior/interior. Glad they got our order of no onions right! Potstickers ($8 for 8) were large and tasty and the chicken broccoli lunch special ($6) portion was huge. My husband and I, and our two kiddos shared the two dishes for lunch. Overall, not a great experience here. My black bean and tofu had very little flavor and was incredibly greasy. Hot and sour soup is good, but not traditionally made. The race was starchy, didn't seem freshly made and they don't have brown rice. When I called, the person I spoke with was very hard to understand and had trouble understanding me.
