Thinking it would be great to support a local neighborhood restaurant, my husband and I went to the Freeport Bar and Grill for a simple breakfast meal on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was fairly steady with business, but I wouldn’t say that it was packed. We were seated in the outside tent, located at the front of the restaurant, with one additional couple. Upon being seated, we were told that the staff would be right with us to take our order. We waited and waited, and waited some more to place a simple drink order. Approximately 15 minutes later, we placed both our drink and meal orders when the staff came to our table. A simple glass of champagne for me, and a Bloody Mary for my husband. The drinks arrived approximately 5 minutes later...and while the Bloody Mary was correct, I received a Mimosa. No thanks! So back it went for my simple glass of champagne. Once I received the glass of champagne, my husband was asked about his meal order, which was stated incorrectly. My husband quickly corrected the order. Approximately 15 minutes later, the staff came back to our table and shared that they were unable to fulfill my meal order, as they had run out of regular waffle mix, but had chocolate chip waffle mix available. I was so confused. Did they not have a communication system to share what was and was not available before a customer ordered, or even immediately after the order had been placed? Also, I’m not 5 years old, so no I didn’t want chocolate chips in my waffles. Finally, how do you have chocolate chip waffle mix, but no plain waffle mix? Okay, got it. Your mix is pre-made. No sweat, changed my meal to something less complicated. At the same time, while the staff was available, I asked for a replacement drink, as the champagne wasn’t great. About 5 minutes later I received the mini bottle of sparkling wine, but no glass to drink from...what??? I was asked if I wanted a glass and I was so puzzled, as common sense suggests that is how it would be served...silly me! Yes, I responded, a glass would be great. So we waited again for the glass that never came. By this time, my patience was gone. No drink, no food, waiting, waiting, waiting. Hungry and thirsty. Final Straw! Shared with a different staff that we were leaving and there was absolutely no care or consideration for the loss of business. Needless to say, won’t be back! This place seems to work for many according to the reviews...but for us, it’s now officially off our list. We headed over to another local restaurant that easily met our simple expectation of “good...
Read moreWent to visit this little town with a friend and it was very quaint ....it did feel like driving into a little Resort town, lined with trees. We sat on the back patio even though it was warm. It was rather quaint with a little Fountain and some potted plants and we enjoyed the butterfly shrimp as an appetizer which was extremely good and I had the Yankee pot roast which was very tender and tasted like mom's... my date had the prime rib which was very good as well. The clam chowder he said was the one of the best he's ever had.... I thought the food was good and the service was friendly but slow but we didn't mind as we weren't in a hurry however note that the water cups are plastic and the food isn't plated like an elegant restaurant. make a pot roast with 16 in the prime rib might have been 20 or 25 so the prices were reasonable and again the food was good but not fancy or elegant for those of you that had comments about that in your reviews... but no complaints as the food was very tasty and I like those little local places... it's obvious the clientele is mostly local. cute little place to travel to for an evening dinner ...you can walk across the street and there are stairs that lead up to the Levee and a little grass area you can lay down and watch the sunset by the river...
Read moreMy Family stopped here for Dinner after a long day of errands and we’re ready to eat!! We started off with iced tea and a cold beer & the sampler platter to start off which was VERY enjoyable and could have been my meal! LOL!
Staff was very polite, friendly and our waitress was bubbly and enjoyable! The owners also are passionate about their place from speaking with her. We ordered the half rotisserie chicken and ribs dinner, Steak Dinner, kids Mac n cheese. I immediately loved that my child’s meal wasn’t burning hot like most restaurants! Huge plus! Everything was wonderful, enjoyable and i highly recommends the chicken! Had an Irish coffee and chocolate deserts that our waitress recommended and it was the perfect! I mean seriously amazing! I would love to honestly come back for coffee and desert just cause!
Very nice family owned restaurant, cozy atmosphere with bar side seating and seating in the back and back Patio during summer. We needed a high chair and sat at the window out back and my daughter loved seeing the birds fly around before dark. You can see the rotisserie chicken spin which immediately attracted my eye. This was our first time eating here but 2nd time there. Thank you for the enjoyable dinner!! We live down the street and cannot wait...
