I am so excited about this new Japanese restaurant! We visited last night at 7pm on a Friday. It is a large restaurant and almost every table was taken, but we were shown right to our seats. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the decor was. The bar area is very cool and the drinks coming out were gorgeous. We have two young children and they gave us the option of a booth or table with high chairs. We sat in a large comfortable booth, the kids were given crayons and menus to color. I've never been to a beautiful sushi restaurant where I felt comfortable having my kids before.
We ordered the teriyaki chicken for the kids (which I tasted and was definitely a 5/5), the truffle Brussels sprouts, and the calamari to start. The brussels were perfect and crispy and we ate the entire bowl, and the crispy calamari was crunchy and not at all greasy and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered from the raw bar, we got the Rainbow Roll At, high quality fresh fish without too much sauce taking away from the flavor) and the garlic salmon (oh my god). To finish we got some nigiri and the star was their 3 way sake which had the salmon nigiri topped with crispy salmon skin and salmon eggs.
After dinner I took my 4 year old to the bathroom where I saw that they had a real changing table with a basket of changing table liners. I know this sounds like a silly thing to put in a review, but as a mom who's changed her babies on a sink before, this was such a thoughtful touch.
We were honestly blown away, I haven't been this excited about a local restaurant in...
Read moreWhat a great experience walking into fuji. The decor was thoughtfully done and transported me back to tokyo. There's a bit of the old world flar like a kimono on the wall and a mural of a samurai on another and many paimting and art pieces. The bar is very eye catching with full LED back lighting, elegant black pendants st the counter and under cabinet lighting making it all really pop. Now to the best part food. Lets start with the appetizers- Lumpia- very Crispy, light but packed with flavor and house made sweet chili sauce
Karaage- fried chicken with a fluffy crunchy coating that was perfectly cooked
Katasu- pork cutlet was extra crispy crunchy accompanied by a sweet nutty sauce
We had 2 plates of fresh fish that didn't last long enough for a picture. It was so fresh we thought it was still flopping around on the cutting board. Definitely a mist order
Then we ordered 4 rolls of the chefs choice. This was amazing we asked for 2 of them to be spicy and the chef hit it out of the park. One of the rolls had lemon zest in in and that flavor combo is something I will desire forever.
The desert we should have skipped bit couldn't resist creme Brule, chocolate decadence and the 3 tower pastry.
This resturant is great for families, date night at the bar and they even have a happy hour from 3-6 pm. Also on Monday and Tuesday night there's a 3 course meal for 30$. I definitely look forward to coming back for some craft cocktails and the rest of the menu....
Read moreI stumbled upon this delightful establishment while waiting for my electric vehicle to charge across the street, and it truly is a hidden gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated immediately.
Their lunch special is an absolute steal at $15! It includes your choice of two meats or fish, gyoza, miso soup, sushi, and rice. Additionally, they offer $10 maki rolls all day on Thursdays. I was pleasantly surprised to find that their $5 bourbons, available with the lunch special, were incredibly well-crafted. I had been expecting something akin to an Applebee's or Chili's drink but was pleasantly proven wrong by the expertly mixed beverage.
The food was outstanding! The kalbi beef had a perfect spicy kick, making it both delightful and memorable. This spot has quickly become my favorite lunch destination in Sacramento. Although I'm just visiting, I come here a few times a year and will most definitely be back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a remarkable and affordable...
