L&L Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Sacramento

My spouse and I ordered from this place Very often. Sometimes we dine in, sometimes we order for take out and once in a while we order through door dash. The food is very good! One of the few places with brown rice on the menu, which is why we liked it there. The employees have always been kind and friendly. On January 22, 2025, at 7:22 pm, we ordered through door dash. We received a phone call from the owner specifically to tell us that we can no longer order brown rice through door dash. I explained to him that was our first time ever being told that. He was short, his voice was rude and his attitude was nasty. He said brown rice was for his customers that go through them directly and not through Door Dash, this made absolutely no sense to us whatsoever! We came to the conclusion that when the employees are more kind, considerate and understanding to the customers dietary restrictions, than the owner himself, this is a place that we can no longer patronize as the faithful customers we have been for years!!! He decided to go on and fulfill our request for this time but strongly advised that he will not do it again. Once we received it, we decided not to eat it because we didn’t trust eating it due to that fact we didn’t feel welcomed to it when we ordered it. We are just a small 2 person family and our chump change may not mean a thing to him but if enough people see this review, maybe it will get back to him and just MAYBE he will adjust that disgusting attitude of his and go back to remembering that if it were not for each individual customer bringing their change and buying his food, he would have...

So again, me and the wife and I decided to explore, and we saw that this L&L had just opened up not too long ago. I said hey we love Hawaiian Barbecue. Let's give him a try went in there the service was great. The staff was very friendly. We ordered a plate, and the food came out pretty fast took the food home. Everything was good and delicious will definitely come back. I have to say I love Hawaiian Barbecue.

The short sentence and review on top is from 2024 a year ago and this one is from tonight So I came back to this location after a year, today's date is 2/14/2025, and I just want to say the food quality went down. 😔 I ordered a couple of plates—BBQ mix and BBQ chicken—to go. I should have checked them there because what I got was questionable. The ribs and short ribs were all fat, the chicken thighs had skin and were raw! 🤢 Both plates had raw chicken! I drove 20 minutes because I thought it would be better than the other location. I should have gone to the closer one. Probably won't be back. L & L Hawaiian BBQ is an amazing spot and now one of my comfort foods. The saimin with spam is shockingly amazing—it's flavorful, comforting, and definitely a must-try. The noodles are cooked to perfection, and the broth is rich and satisfying. I also highly recommend getting a side of their macaroni salad with every meal.
