Rafa’s Mexican Food — Restaurant in Sacramento

Been putting this review off for way too long - Been a customer of Rafa's mexican food inside shell for a good 4-5 years. ALWAYS used to get the carne asada fries and sometimes the tacos and burritos. I've brought so many family and friends here and they've liked the food. Even though their food quality and taste has gone down A LOT (mainly noticed it with the carne asada fries) over the years, I still went pretty regularly.

A while back I came with my cousin and a friend, about 30 mins before closing time. We all ordered burritos, I said no onions at least 3 times to the lady taking the order (who barely spoke any English). And she said okay, even said "NO CEBOLLA" a good two times and she said okay. Get our burritos to go, go to the benches by freebirds and start eating them and guess what! There's goddamn cebolla in my burrito.

So I take the burrito back and now it's about 5 mins before closing and they're already cleaning the grill. I tell them they messed up on my order and I told the lady I even said no onions and she acted surprised that my food had them in it. So I told them I see you guys cleaning up im not going to make you guys make me food again but asked can I get my money back, they said next time you come get a free burrito, I said okay that works.

Went back a few times and they said I can't get my free burrito and apparently didn't even remember who I was or anything. Even though I spoke to Rafa himself when I saw him at the store one time, and he said yeah you can get it next time. I went back a good three-four times after that and mentioned it but they say n land just deny it every time. I haven't gone back in a couple of months. It's a shame, but I can't respect a business who not only messes up their customers order even after the customer makes sure 3-4 times, but they also can't keep their word.

Highly doubt I'll be going back unless I get my money back or a free item, even then I would think about it twice. It's not even about the actual money, it's the...

Stay away from this place! My wife and I ordered a regular burrito and a burrito bowl that had lettuce, pico, sour cream and guac and we got a burrito with sour cream which i didnt order and a side of rice and beans. So we were charged for more expensive items than what we got and when we went back to complain the inattentive teenager taking orders with airpods on said i said i wanted a super burrito which isnt true and she gave my wife a replacement which was still wrong just meat and beans and then when we went back again she completely ignored us. I've been a customer off/on for 10+ yrs, so I've seen, heard & experienced some things re: Rafa's. I've NOT had many problems here myself. HOWEVER, since being downsizing to the trailer from INSIDE the gas station for whatever reason, the QUALITY OF FOOD & SERVICE have become low/no priority.

I was going to leave my money here for prepared food items. I did not feel welcomed to do so at this food TRAILER today. More than once, their WITHHELD GREETINGS have saved me time, money, and from being disappointed. Today was one of them & I'm happier for it.
