Corner Sushi — Restaurant in Saint Augustine

I want to start off with that I moved to Florida from Las Vegas a year ago and have been deeply struggling with finding food that had the same level of quality and service that I experienced there. So when I rate this 5 stars it definitely goes beyond that.

I was beyond giving up trying to find a place I love and could eat at everyday without tiring of it and I’m excited to say this place has definitely become a favorite.

The quality of the sushi was perfect. It easily made itself in my top sushi places based on quality alone. But it definitely goes beyond that. The presentation was stunning. The level of detail and care that they put it in was that of a high end restaurant. The service very similar. Not only for me but others in the restaurant. The staff was paying attention to each table from the corner being on top of any need. My plates where cleared moments after I finished and when I left something on them they asked if everything was alright with it (I’d been saving room for my main entree). Everything I had was beyond fantastic (tuna avocado salad, steamed gyoza, the lunch sashimi special) even the strawberry cake desert blew me away.

We decided to try Corner Sushi after everyone commented that Corner Sushi is the best in St. Augustine in the St. Augustine Moms Facebook group. It was Valentine’s Day so we expected that there would be a long wait. We only waited for about 30 minutes and we were seated. Despite the place being busy and packed, and tons of people waiting to get the pick up order, the service and quality of the food was phenomenal. We did wait for a bit to get our order, but we were so impressed that they didn’t sacrifice on the quality. If they produce this high quality level during busy holidays, we will never mind waiting long for our food at all. The waitresses came to our table often to clean up the plates and make sure our water was filled. Since then we have returned several times and it has always been great. We tried pick up once and the quality of the sushi and even the tempura was outstanding. The tempura shrimp and veggies were not soggy/greasy. Also, I must say the double salmon roll is number one. Great hibachi and sushi at what is probably the best price you'll find in St. Augustine.

While sitting at the sushi bar, the chefs treated us and other guests to a free course of thinly sliced salmon sashimi, with what tasted like a nice bright ponzu soy, seaweed salad, thinly sliced avocado, and cucumber.

The clear soup was a unique iteration that seemed to utilize fried shallots/onion for an extra boost of savory flavor that complimented the stock exceptionally well.

We also ordered spring rolls which were light, crispy, flakey, perfectly golden, and served with sweet chili sauce.

The Salmon Katsu is one of my go-to's, and their version is the best I've had anywhere.

The Spicy Salmon roll and Tokyo roll were also amazing and obviously fresh.

After we'd finished our food, our waitress brought us out a small, yet rich complimentary piece of an espresso cake that was a great way to close out the meal.
