A Disappointing Experience at The Kookaburra Dondi Coffee Shop
As a coffee enthusiast, I visited The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop expecting a great experience. Unfortunately, my visit fell short of expectations.
The Issue:
When ordering a cappuccino, I was asked about the size, which raised a red flag. A traditional cappuccino is a 6oz drink, and anything larger is essentially a latte. I opted for the smallest size, 12oz, but received a 20oz cup with an overwhelming amount of milk and only 2 shots of espresso.
Lack of Flexibility:
When I inquired about a single shot, I was told they only serve double shots for $3.50. This lack of flexibility in their menu offerings was disappointing.
Missed Opportunity:
Given the coffee shop was slow and empty, I expected a more personalized experience. Instead, my inquiry was met with awkward silence, and the staff seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns.
Recommendation:
If you're planning to visit The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop, I recommend mentioning this review to the staff. This might help ensure that they provide better service and attention to detail.
Overall:
While I appreciate the enthusiasm of independent coffee shops, The Kookaburra Dondi coffee shop needs to work on understanding coffee basics and providing better customer service. Until they refine their offerings and service, I wouldn't recommend it to...
Read moreI have been drinking coffee since I was 9. I am now 60. My father travelled all over the world so we got to experience coffee from every place he travelled. I’ve had a keurig, a Nespresso, French press, a simple percolator and Mr. coffee. All of them. But a few years ago I bought a Chemex pour over and every time I use it my coffee was horrible. But I liked the idea and simplicity of it. We frequent this kookaburra location a lot and I ordered a pour over and it was amazing. So I asked the Barista how they make it explaining mine was horrible at home. They were not busy and this young man (I didn’t get his name) took the time to explain to me the entire pour over process and how the bloom is so important. I later came back and bought beans and wanted to thank him but he wasn’t there. Per his detailed instructions and the little printed card I picked up there, I made my kookaburra coffee at home and it was truly wonderful. Not only is the staff amazing but the coffee is as well. From now on I can enjoy my Kook coffee in my Jammie’s as well as visiting my favorite coffee shop! No reason to ever go to any other coffee shop! Stay local! And you never have to...
Read moreYummy drinks and yummy food with health conscious and dietary restriction recipes galore. Super chill ambience too. When the weather calls for it, sit outside on the front porch among relaxing greenery. Great place to do laptop work (free wifi) or even phone calls (outside). I was close to giving the 5 stars, however, they lost that 1 star for me when they didn't have a microwave or toaster oven or anything that would reheat the various food items I just purchased from them. If you're a coffee/pastry shop but unable to reheat the pastries, bagels, etc., it really takes away from the food experience for the customers (which I sense the staff knows this and seemed apologetic about it to each customer, so that's nice and all but let's get that microwave still please). The different pot pies were so tasty (especially the Thai Chicken Chili pie) but also were a little dry, stale and cold simply because it couldn't be warmed up after sitting in the case for however long since they made them. Just please get yourselves some sort of machine or gadget to heat up the delicious food you made! 🙏 Otherwise, highly recommend - even for the drinks. Just go for the drinks and it's...
