Nothing but issues! We booked a site with Ocean Grove RV resort in November for March, our plan was to arrive on Friday evening, since it was a 10 hour drive and stay until the following Sunday a week later. I told them when booking we had a 40 ft toy-hauler travel trailer with two motorcycles. Well, we were running behind schedule on our arrival, and knew we would be later than expected. I called and informed them it would be 9 or 10 I thought before we would get there. I was told they had a gate attendant and just stop in and pay then next morning. No problem. We arrived even later due to a bad wreck blocking all lanes on I-10 so we pulled in at about 1130pm.. No attendant to let us in, no one answering the phone, no way to contact anyone. There was no previous mention that the attendant left at 11.. We spent our first night in the parking lot. The next morning while waiting for the office to open at 830 am we decided to unload the bikes so we could drop the trailer and take off to meet our friends as planned at 9am. Good thing we did to! We checked in and headed to our assigned site.. and boy was it small, not only was in narrow, but shallow.. as we attempted to back the trailer into the site, we were all clear until the leaning tree over the street took the edge of the roof off. The bottom was clear but 12 ft up the tree leaned just enough into the path. Trying to back the trailer on the narrow road into the really tight spot proved an issue. When I say tight I mean the width of our trailer and a picnic table between two fences. and so shallow backed all the way in the truck could not park on the site without being in the road. We could not maneuver the trailer into the site because of the tree and had already damaged the brand new camper so we decided to try to come into the site from the other direction and circle around. The road being very narrow and cars parked so closely attempting to turn a corner we nipped the side on a dumpster, a small divot, but this is a 2019 trailer..!! Strike 2... so far we at about 6000.00 in damage.. The guys that work there finally arrive to assist, have people move cars and they have to get their tractor to work the camper into the spot, narrowly missing the tree themselves with the smaller wheel base tractor. If we had not unloaded the bikes up front in effort to save time, we would not have been able to, the back of the camper was just a few feet from the back of another one, and no way to let the ramp down or use the party deck; not and park even the bikes on the site. We had to park the truck at the bathhouse. The guys working there indicating that Ocean Grove might cover the damage since no way we should have ever been assigned that site with the size trailer we had. But no one contacted us. So were in, having missed our friends, lots of damage later, and have to replace the roof when we get home plus the entire morning lost. No way should a camper over 25 ft been in that spot.. Were set up and ready for the week. The site had no space save for the picnic table patio, which sat literally right next to the sewer pipe of the camper in front of us.. Yuck! So little time was spent outside. We were given 1 paper card with bar code for entry through the gate, a rather outdated process I say, A touch pad would have been more useful... We had family arriving on our final Saturday afternoon and we get a call from the office saying we were supposed to check out, that we have to leave! Just as our family is arriving. They had put us down for a Saturday check out rather than through that Saturday night as a I requested when booking. Strike 3! Now, I take part blame because I didn't thoroughly check the email confirmation, but when one request x date through x date check out is usually the next morning, which would have been Sunday morning. Just as we were almost packed and disconnected they call and say we can stay but we have to pay for another night.. we wont be back. it was a 7000.00 plus site...

My husband and I spent some time at this resort. Everyone was so wonderful. By the time we had left we had met so many wonderful friends that we know we will keep in touch for a long time - including all of the staff!

Manager Sam, all the cleaners, Patrick at the bar and chef Miguel were so delightful to be around. Security was great. Not to mention the friendly ladies at the front desk. Thank you to all of you for making our stay so wonderful.

The resort is spotless and the restaurant on site does a wonderful job offering live music, bar and amazing food and service!

Water Aerobics with the lovely Tammy was available during my stay and the pool, hot tub and all bathrooms were always kept spotless every day. Thank-you Janie, husband and team!

They have several showers to use and a great laundry service with exceptional new machines for laundry.

It's a simple place with everything you need at the right price.

The location is perfect as it's a short walking/bike distance to the gorgeous St. Augustine beach with several restaurants, yoga and coffee shops a short walk/distance away. The grocery store Publix is also only a short bicycle ride as well. A convenient location if you are parking and don't want to move again.

For children, they have a kids playground, and for dogs they have several bathroom spots where they provide poop bags for you. It's a dog friendly place and everyone does a remarkable job keeping the dogs from barking. Etc There is a small dog run which was perfect for my dogs.

There are many repeat, longterm snowbirds here which was so wonderful to be around. They happily welcomed my husband and I every Monday morning for coffee and donuts during coffee social and always notified us of any future events to partake in. We joined the potluck during Christmas and shared a beautiful evening with 60 people enjoying conversations and good food which the restaurant on site also helped with. They had breakfast with Santa and did an incredible job for both young and old!

It's a very safe RV resort. Never did I feel unsafe. And the location of the RV resort on the island of St Augustine was very safe. We walked and biked at night with no problem.

The resort offers shuttle services to downtown St Augustine for a small fee. There is so much to do in St Augustine that you just don't have enough time to experience it all.

Can't wait to return to see all of our friends again. Thank you for such a...

I wouldn’t say that I’d never go back, but it isn’t at the top of our list for a return trip. We did a standard site and it was decent. It was grass with a large concrete slab patio. It happened to be a pull through which was nice because some of the sites are small and tight. This park apparently used to be family owned and operated and now it is another park that unfortunately has been sold to a corporation. I’m sure when it was an owner/operator it had someone on site that valued it as more than just a business. It felt as though it was just a property that someone monitors on a profit and loss spreadsheet.

The existing basketball court was in disrepair and the hoops were completely bent and unusable. I’m guessing that if it was still family owned they would have painted some pickleball lines on the court and improved the amenity to something that is so popular right now. The bathrooms weren’t bad, but they needed some paint and some TLC. Again, if someone was there regularly they probably would have bought some paint.

It was a holiday weekend, but the pool was so cloudy that you couldn’t see the drain in the deep end. There seemed to be far too many people in the pool like it was over capacity. Since the on site restaurant is open to the public it isn’t clear how they would keep non park guests out of the pool. A lot of parks have resorted to wristbands or something similar to ensure that amenities are being used by paying guests only.

The location is great. If you have a four wheel drive vehicle the beach access is just a block away to the south. The sand was super clean and the beach was wide. $10 for a day pass to be able to drive on the beach. Without four wheel drive it may be a challenge because it’s one way and the next ramp is about 1.5 miles south.

The Oasis is a restaurant about 3 blocks or so north. Good food and friendly service. We didn’t try the on site bar based on the negative reviews other have posted since new management took over. There is also a chain Hurricanes Bar and Grill just south of the park as an easy walk. Right next to that is a good coffee shop with some breakfast muffins and Aussie pies.

Overall it isn’t a place to avoid, it’s just another location that is now corporate owned with high prices for...

This is our 2nd year vacationing here. We decided to return because we truly loved the location. However, two incidents have forced us to rethink our decision. 1. Last year we were told by other campers that they was a Hawk's nest on site, but we never saw it. This year while we were setting up, our neighbors informed us of a Hawk's nest in the tree directly outside our rv. We had never seen a hawk or it's nest, so we didn't know what to expect. As my husband walked from the front of the rv to the rear he was attacked by the hawk. We hadn't been there 20 minutes. We were never warned by management of Hawks nesting in the tree outside our rv. I'm not sure why they would rent those spots if guests could be potentially harmed, as my husband was. When we contacted the management office, they agreed to put us at a new site. This was after we were almost completely set up and had to pack up and relocate. This could have been avoided if we were notified at arrival. Management kept saying that since the Hawks are a protected bird, there is nothing they could do about the situation. I contacted the Florida fish and wildlife conservation. I was told that the wildlife conservation informed the campground a year ago that the hawk's nest could be removed if they followed the correct procedure. 2. On the last day of our stay while we were sitting outside our rv enjoying the weather, a guy came to wash the rv next to us. Once he began using a powerwasher to wash the rv we could feel a misting of water coming from him washing the rv. My husband then asked the guy to please be mindful of us sitting outside while using the powerwasher. The guy told my husband that he can't control mother nature. Not more than 10 minutes later a maintenance worker came over and asked us if there was a problem and informed us that the guy washing the rv told him that my husband threatened him. He also informed us thar the guy was a paid vendor. I would think that if you have outside vendors coming on site to do work that you would want them to respect your paying guests. We could have stayed anywhere, but we chose to stay here even amid the substantially increased rates. We'd think that the vendors would be courteous enough to respect each camper's individual space.

The campground is neatly maintained, not too large, and is conveniently located about fifteen minutes from the St. Augustine historic district. The resort has nice laundry facilities, an on-site gym, and bath houses (that need a little more housekeeping). We were fortunate enough to secure one of their wooded sites which was beautiful. However, my parents site was on the perimeter of the resort and lacked any shade or privacy. There is a nice sized pool with grill/bar attached, where live music/karaoke is offered most nights. My son enjoyed fishing off the dock at the back of the property, and we caught some gorgeous sunsets there as well. I deducted one star for a few reasons. First, the resort allows outside membership to their pool, and at times it can be packed and difficult to even find a place to lounge. Second, although the roads are paved (thankfully) they are narrow and prove difficult to back your rig into your site if you don’t have a pull through site. Third, and most importantly, their website is a little deceiving about the resorts proximity to the beach. I read and was told over the phone while booking our reservation that they were “right across the street” from the beach. Although this isn’t entirely false, to gain beach access you need to leave the campground, drive down to the next traffic light and pay to park on the beach. It would be about a 15-20 min walk on foot crossing four lanes of busy traffic on A1A, while walking through a private gated neighborhood, if you were to try and walk it. All and all, this is a great place to try and we will stay here again.
