Friday 9/18/2023 (festival of little hills) I went to Mr. Thirsty for a drink with a friend and my boyfriend around 7:45pm. Before entering the bar there were a group of men standing outside and warned us about the bouncer at the door. They said that he was disrespectful and to watch out. We decided to go in get a drink and leave after a drink to enjoy the festival. When entering the bar, the bouncer (older man) was sitting at the door. I assumed that we were needing to show ID to enter the bar, so I had my ID in my hand to show him. Our friend asked if we needed to show ID since the man did not take my ID or even look at it. The man said no. I walked in as I saw an open spot at the bar with just enough seating for our group. As we all walked into the bar and my boyfriend was stopped and asked for ID. My boyfriend had realized at the moment he did not have his ID. He was told that he had to wait outside and was not allowed to enter the building. Our friend noticed my boyfriend still standing outside and saw my boyfriend waving, motioning to come outside. My friend walked outside and was notified by my boyfriend of what was going on and how he was not allowed in. Our friend walked in to notify me and the bartenders overheard and apologized, saying that this stuff happens all the time and has been reported to the owner and nothing is ever done about it. I was disgusted and decided to leave. When exiting the building I stopped and confronted the “bouncer” and asked why he didn’t car my friend or myself. He informed me that they don’t card until after 9pm, when the kitchen closes. I asked “well then why did you card my boyfriend” and I pointed to him outside. He began to laugh. I asked him if he decided to card him because he is a black man. The “bouncer” laughed again and said “I’ll card who I need to card”. I asked him why he felt he needed to card my boyfriend and not all of us as we all came together as a group. He said he needed to card him and again, started laughing. This is public racial profiling and absolutely disgusting to treat someone with such disrespect to not allow them into an establishment because of the “bouncer’s” issue HE has! The next day I called and spoke with a manager and informed him of the situation. The manager himself told me that they will not be doing anything about this issue. He went on to explain how they “needed” the bouncer as it is hard to find reliable and trustworthy security. The manager never once apologized or even try to make a lame excuse for the man’s behavior. The manager said he was wasting his time listening to our terrible experiences we had at his bar. If this establishment is choosing to honor racism and discrimination, I don’t have a problem sharing our experience so others are warned. This is disgusting and should mot be tolerated. We will never return to “Mr.Racist”. This is racial profiling and discrimination! A black man not being allowed to enter an establishment (not because didn’t have his ID..there were families eating with their children. It was 7:45pm and they don’t card until after 9pm) there is no reason why he should have been banned from entering...
Read moreThis place is the worst and do some very sketchy things. They allowed other people to put their drinks on my tab (people I didn't know). I told the bartender I didn't order those drinks, and he said he wasn't going to take anything off my tab. I told them if I wasn't the one specifically telling them that people other than myself were going to charge my tab, they messed up. The guy refused to take any money off even though it was his fault. Finally right before I left he gave me some money back. But guess what? After that, they charged my card another $15 that I did not authorize or sign off on. They put that in the tip section. This bar is CRAP, shady and disgusting. They mess up on something and take it on out on the innocent person. Sh* people. Sh* bar. I didn't deserve to have my money stolen from me....
Read moreI have been a regular patron of Mr. Thirsty’s since relocating to St. Charles, and it has become my favorite establishment. The decor is charming, particularly the moose above the bar, and the cozy seating creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. I have been consistently impressed by the cleanliness of the restrooms. The food is delicious and served with genuine friendliness. The bartenders are exceptional, exhibiting a positive attitude that can sometimes be rare in other venues on Main Street. One of my favorite features of this establishment is the pickle shots; I have not encountered better options anywhere in St. Louis. I enjoy gathering with friends to share a variety of appetizers and pickle shots, creating a relaxed and enjoyable social experience. This is truly a wonderful place for camaraderie...
