Was told “20-25 minutes” on the phone, showed up 30 minutes later. It ended up taking almost an hour to get our food, and there were 7 other people there with the same complaint. Finally got my food, went home, and it was chop suey with chicken fried rice. I’m a vegetarian, and had ordered the chow mein. My husband called and she said to bring it back and she would exchange it. We live nowhere near there so he insisted on just getting his money back. She said she was too busy to help him.
I ate the vegetable chop suey even though I dont normally like it- at that point it was an hour and 45 minutes past dinner time and I was hungry. It was flavorless.
Edit 5/13- Had dinner with my family and they insisted we get takeout from here. I wasnt happy but thought why not give it anither shot? At least this time I could go in with realistic expectations. We placed an order online and I decided to call to let them know we had, because many asian restaurants Ive been to rarely check their online orders so I wanted to let her know. The same woman I spoke to with our other experience answered and immediately started going off about how she doesn’t like when people do online orders and to call next time. I thought that didnt make much sense. Just take the online ordering system down if its that bad. Why make it available if you dont like it? But I had already paid so after her rant I just said “okay, just wanted to let you know. Could you please-“ I started to ask her to put chopsticks in the bag. She hung up on me. Five minutes later she called back yelling that my husband needed to bring $2.00 because theres an up-charge for the fried rice and the website didn’t charge me. At this point I was frustrated and told her absolutely not. If their prices are on the website they should be updated. It s her business and her job to make sure they’re accurate. Again she continued to go off about how he had to bring the two dollars or she would only give us steamed white rice in that box. Its only $2.00 and if she had been even remotely polite about it and hadn’t hung up on me before, I would have been happy to oblige. Instead I told her to cancel our order. She said no and told me to call the website to get it cancelled. Needless to say that was the last chance they’re getting from us. Horrible business and customer service. Our family was there and witnessed the whole thing, and was astounded at how this woman was acting. I remained calm the whole time and was met with an awful attitude at each opportunity. They also said they will not...
Read moreWe've been looking for a good Chinese-american place since Moy's down in Grosse Pointe Woods closed, and had a lot of misses. Mayflower is the first place that's gotten our repeat business since then. While they are primarily Chinese-American they have a number of well done Thai dishes as well. pad thai, drunken noodles, and thai fried rice have been very satisfying. Good ratio of protein in the dishes that include it, and while we typically get chicken only, the pieces have been large and tender. On the Chinese-American side, almond boneless chicken has been crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside with tasty golden gravy for dipping. The hunan chicken was also delightful. Egg rolls are the standard size, filling, and wrapper that one would expect here. My only mild complaint, pardon the pun, is that even spicey dishes ordered 'hot' are still basically mild. Three caveats. One, its takeout only and I would strongly recommend calling your order in ahead of time (not using the web portal or waiting to come in to place the order). Two, this is basically a two man (or woman in this case) operation, so it takes awhile to get your order. They'll tell everyone 20 minutes as a default, but it's going to be longer, maybe 2-3x longer. The food is worth it, just plan around that. Three, all employees are still wearing masks due to covid and really appreciate it if customers do as well. They won't give you a hard time or not serve you if you don't, but they're really...
Read moreOrdered online and when I showed up was yelled at because ordered shrimp fried rice and should be charged more than online price. Already paid online so she said last time can do. Never ordered here before. Order was not prepared until I got there. People came in after me and ordered and got food before me. On way home was called that the one thing she didn't want me to have wasn't in order and had to go back. Sweet and sour shrimp tasted like something else, no sweet and sour for sure. Was spicy and I cannot eat spicy so as thrown away. After the harsh treatment I will not go back and when food tasted bad that made it for sure. Over an hour wait including the time quoted online and only 3 people before me and 1 after so was...
