Ok so I was told the food here was good so I wanted to check it out. Went there and ordered the 2 meat plate with catfish and spare ribs and dubs style beans and salad and my gf got the chicken sandwich meal/combo with fries. The lady at the counter had a very unprofessional attitude.anyway we ordered and went home. Got home to start eating and my plate lets start with that; I was surprised that an 18$ meal only came with one piece of catfish and a super small side of beans. The catfish was definitely over cooked and tasted like oil. I usually can eat about 10 pieces of catfish in one sitting, this one piece I threw away. The ribs, it’s very disappointing when you mess up ribs . The ribs were very chewy and not tender at all, had to put force into separating the meat from the bone, and the meat just had no flavor at all. The beans were actually really good, they were spicier than I expected but that could have been me not paying attention to the details but they were good, just a super small kids meal size for a grown man. Now to the chicken sandwich, that was the DRYEST chicken I’ve ever seen before. It was on a half hoagie with cheese, nothing else, no mayonnaise, no lettuce no tomato nothing. The chicken had no flavor and even with putting mayo on it it was like a Popeyes biscuit with no honey, a straight choke sandwich. The fries were ok, a little soggy but they had flavor.
Overall this place was terrible, service was trash and atmosphere of it being completely empty should have made me turn around immediately but I try to support small businesses but this place I’m still hungry after spending over 30$ for garbage. I...
Read moreHorable service, we waited well over half an hour and it wasn’t like it was swamped with people. Other bbq places I’ve been to have had the food out in minutes as it is already cooked. The lady behind the counter was very short with us. We tried to use our Dixie direct card, not realizing it has expired and she said pretty rudely “Expired” and didn’t even say anything else (it had barely barely expired by the way.) As such the meal was more then I was expecting price wise, they have a tiny sign that says the menu prices are lower then actual prices which is frustrating. The portion sizes were pretty small for a $14 meal, I ate my whole plate and part of my wife’s and left hungry. Good size portion for the meat, but sides were very small portions. I make better Mac & cheese at home, the baked beans tasted just like a can you can buy at Walmart, the best thing I had was the potato salad. The meat was only saved by the bbq sauce and salt and pepper. The brisket and pork was dry, and not very flavorful. The chicken was surprisingly good, but not enough to make up for everything else.
Overall okayish food, horrible service, crazy prices and mediocre portion sizes.
Edit after owners response: The expired coupon was the smallest of issues during our visit. I would also like to add that the garbage cans were overflowing with garbage. I didn’t even mention waiting for 10 minutes to get my drink refilled by a complete rude lady that did not want to be there even more then me. Also, you seem a bit prideful to be throwing out that you made thousands of dollars in sales, so I guess you don’t need your...
Read moreUnsatisfactory. For those who might be offended by a negative review, please move on. We ordered Deep Fried Catfish Bites $7.99 and a Large End (Spare Ribs) $13.99. The Catfish Bites included one side item and the Ribs included two. We chose Beans, Cole Slaw and Potato Salad as our three sides. The Catfish Bites had good flavor and were not over-cooked, but the portion size was small (5 small pieces). The Ribs were tough, and tasted as though they had been covered in liquid smoke and cooked quickly in an oven instead of being slow cooked over a wood fire. Slow cooked BBQ ribs should be "fall off the bone tender" and these definitely were not. The three side items we chose were also a disappointment. All were 3 ounces each (small). The Beans tasted like they came from a can. The Potato Salad seemed like it was bought pre-made from a grocery store and the Cole Slaw did not resemble any slaw that we've ever had. It tasted more like sweet carrot salad. There are much better choices for BBQ in this area. Rarely have we been so disappointed in a place that local people rave about. I can only assume they've never had anything to compare this to. We will...
