Marquez Grill — Restaurant in Saint Paul

I knew about this place since moving here from Tucson Arizona (about 2 years ago) but never checked it out. I have been on a quest since relocating to twin cities to find carne asada that is comparable to the flavor profiles I'm well acquainted with. I was reluctant to go here since the day before I ate carne from another shop that depressed me (no taste!). Other shops and trucks have all failed to satisfy that for me with some using weird spices and too much of it. This taqueria has outdone all of them. I am impressed with their commitment to using spices to bring out the taste of the steak (it's steak!!! The service was bad, I went on May 10, 2025, for Mother's Day dinner. I ordered my favorite order red enchiladas and when they gave me my order, they gave me green enchiladas. I told the girl that my order was wrong and instead of correcting her mistake, she claims that I asked for them green. I know what I eat and I always order red enchiladas when I eat at that restaurant. They have to pay more attention and not be distracted by the phone when they are taking orders, because they also got my companion's order wrong. Today was my 2nd lunch at Marquez and will be going back again. There is enough variety even though there is not page after page in the menu. In fact the menu are numbered photos of the various dishes on the wall.
