Milly's Bakery — Restaurant in Saint Paul

We visited her two times already and not going back. Milly seems to be disorganized and unreliable.

During the first meeting, she came to get shop late. Shop hours posted 10am, she didn't even arrived until 10:08am. While I was in her shop, another customer came in to pick up a birthday cake with a "T-rex"and got a totally different dinosaur. (Because the customer didn't sent her a picture of what a T-rex dinosaur looks like). I think Milly failed to do her research and even failed to ask for clarification as a business owner. However, I was able to put in an order for some delicious " tres leches" cake slices with vanilla buttercream... So I thought... Until next time.

During the second trip, I have called her around 11:30am to order some more Tres Leches, this time a cake, for it to be ready by 3:15pm. Ok, now I arrived at the store only to find out that she have not even started. She asked me to wait 15 minutes. Apparently, the food inspector have been there since I've called her at 11 and she haven't been able to do it yet. Milly also expressed how thankful she was that the inspector didn't show up the next day due to her "wedding cake order" that was due the next day around that time. "Can you imagine what would've happened?" said Milly.

So she didn't have a cake ready, I asked her if she had any slices and I'll take those 2 instead. She asked if I was going to eat them now. I said no, later. "Let me just put some frosting on it" she said. And came back with a whole cake and 2 slices of Tres Leches. No, I did not want all of that. Only the slices. I didn't have time! Although we cleared up the understanding and Milly assured me that I'm not obligated to buy them all, I still wasted all of that time waiting there (which I didn't have time for anyway) and decided to get the cake (see picture of Valentine's day cake, all by Milly, even writing).

The cake was definitely not as fresh as the first ones I have tried and I know that the frosting was whip cream instead of the vanilla buttercream I've requested. And I'm sure majority of the people can taste the difference between buttercream and whip cream. And this cake went to waste not only because I'm a picky eater but it was bad!

I was excited to have millie make our wedding cake after reading all the good reviews. We scheduled a cake tasting. And when we arrived Millie had completely forgot and had nothing ready. She felt bad, so quickly went through ideas of what we wanted and said to come by next week to pick up samples to go. My now husband was going to pick them up after work so I had told him to call to make sure they were ready before he left and when he did she said she forgot again....and to come by in an hour or 2 to pick them up. They seemed very rushed and put together quickly. They tasted good though and we were a little on a time crunch so we continued with Millie. She had asked to have us call and and make sure everything was on track a week or two before our wedding day. We had requested to have the cake delivered to make things easier. Our wedding was at 1pm so we had asked for it to arrive by 12pm. Cake was still not there by 1230. My husband called and she said she would be there by 1245....luckily she was so it didnt arrive during the ceremony. I had my husband help her with the cake and when he came back he said the cake was pink.....I had asked for an ivory cake with gold flakes and real flowers arranged on it. I got a pink cake with no gold flakes and decorative design on the bottom of every layer that I did not ask for....the picture on the left is what it was supposed to be and the picture on the right is what we got....it wouldn't be such a thing if it was one bad thing....but it was one thing after another....definitely not worth the money and a constant worry and headache through the entire process...would not recommend...

Called to place an order for a small unicorn birthday cake for my daughter’s party. I called a couple of weeks in advance and specified that my daughter wanted a chocolate flavored unicorn cake and at the end of my discussion with the lady she says she is going to call back to ask for flavors and colors in which I quite didn’t get because the design speaks for its colors and I said my daughter prefers chocolate but either way she said she would call me and that if she didn’t I could call her. I never got a call but then again I thought maybe she realized she had all the details she needed I gave her the quantity of guests, date and time of event, and cake design and said chocolate, so maybe that last detail of needing to speak again wasn’t necessary. But on the week of the party I did call just to confirm and it appears she took my order off her calendar because she assumed I didn’t want it anymore and instead filled her schedule with wedding cakes. Yikes, what a way to leave a mom scrambling to find another baker to fulfill her kids unicorn birthday cake. Oh and not to mention if you are busy and know that calling clients back is slim then preferably don’t ever say you will just don’t bother with that detail it’s unprofessional. So for anyone who is in the search of a baker please stay on top of her because even though the owner states that she will call you, she won’t and she will just omit your order and then...
