We've been desperately trying to find a great Korean restaurant, my boyfriend and I, both from Colorado where there are amazing Korean restaurants. Since he is Korean, he is super picky. We read some good reviews about Mirror of Korea, so we risked bringing some family members hoping to share our Korean food passion with some first timers. Our overall assessment of the food here: decent. Dishes and review: bulgogi-poor(!), kimchijigae-good, kimchi fried rice-very good, dol sot bibimbap-good, galbi tang-good. The most noteworthy food experience was the bulgogi. I've never had such bland bulgogi before!! On top of that, it tasted/looked like it had been steamed then dried. The absolute worst bulgogi dish we've ever had. It was very disappointing. On the positive, my boyfriend always gets kimchijigae whenever it's on the menu, and he said it was 'pretty good.' That means better than most. Side dishes were also pretty good. We liked the eggs, kimchi, and pancakes best. Service was on the poor side. The server forgot one of our orders, but when we asked about it, she replied, "Do you still want it?" She was pretty absent during our meal-never came back to refill our drinks once or even ask if we needed anything (just once is all we need). Decor-what decor? I guess we've just been spoiled in Colorado because we'll never go back to this place. Tip: we've really enjoyed the food at Korea House and Dong Yang Oriental Foods (the delicious food and more affordable prices make up for no decor and...
Read moreForgot to take pictures :( Was seated right away, and greeted by our server right away. I ordered Green Tea, which seriously, if you like green tea, try this! It's green tea with brown rice, and it's fabulous! Our table ordered Beef Bulgolgi and Japchae. We were immediately served Banchan (side dishes including Kimchee, pickled radishes, fermented cucumbers, potatoes, sprouts, and more) The Bulgolgi was a a HUGE portion! Especially since you are eating rice and Banchan too. It's amazing. I definitely took some home! The only reason I gave the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars, is because the Bulgolgi was missing some extra flavor Everything that was on the griddle was FULL of flavor, but some of the meat was a little bland. But honestly, still very good. My dining mate ordered Japchae. It was the first item to arrive, and smelled amazing! She took a bite and couldn't stop. She let me try it, and it had amazing flavor. And the best part about it is that she ate for 15 min and it didn't even look like she made a dent. That one came home with us too! Overall, wonderful service and great food! A little update on the actual restaurant would be nice (booths, tables, chairs, flooring ect) but that doesn't change what the food taste like. Go!...
Read moreMy two sisters and I went in for dinner here. I ordered a dish for take out and asked them to put it on a separate check. Beef bulgogi was bland and flavorless. Seafood pancake had more veggies in it than seafood. Our pork kimchi was pretty much just kimchi with tiny pieces of pork. Food was quite disappointing and not what is used to be years ago. Our bill will was not split up like we asked, so we went to the counter. My sister and I also noticed that they added a 15% tip to our whole bill INCLUDING my take out dish. When she split the bill, she also split the 15% tip. SO NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A PARTY OF 3 OR MORE, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY GET CHARGED 15% TIP. I tried to question the lady about why she would tip my take out dish and if this is something that they charge everyone who gets take out and she said because we ate in. I tried explaining that we did not eat my take out dish there and our waitress came by the register, stood around for a few seconds and walked away. For bland food, and getting charged 15% on my take out order on TOP of the 15% for dining in, I will most definitely NOT be returning here ever again. If you're looking for Korean food, try Sole Cafe...
