We were there today for lunch around 1:15pm. I specifically went there as they have lunch specials that run until 2:30. We perused the menu as anyone normally would, then closed our menus and stacked them on the table as to notify the server that we were ready to order. We told our server we’d like the kimchi jigae and dolsot bibambap BOTH which were on the lunch menu. We specifically ordered these items as they were available on the lunch menu. The server took our order and didn’t ask if we wanted the dinner or lunch size so we just thought we’d be getting the lunch as it is during the lunch hour and we ordered items on the lunch menu. When we received our bill after our meal, we were charged for the dinner size (even though we never asked for the dinner size). We questioned why we were charged the dinner price when both items were on the lunch menu and it is during the lunch time. The server then said she SAW us look in the menu, so she KNEW we wanted the dinner size. She, however, never bothered to ask which size we’d like at the time of ordering, so we just thought we’d be getting the lunch. She claimed we had the menus opened when we ordered (we did not, they were stacked on the table). It is the severs responsibility to ask if we’d like the dinner size if it’s outside of the normal dinner hours. We ordered items that we available during lunch to get the lunch size and price. The servers then actually yelled at us, making false claims that we ordered from inside of the menu simply because we briefly glanced long before the server came to take our order and claimed they should not have to ask which size and just assume we wanted the dinner size at lunch which makes no sense. I could see if we ordered items that weren’t available during lunch then yes, we’d expect to pay the dinner price. However, we ordered 2 lunch items and didn’t ask for them in the dinner size but yet was still charged that price. Horrible customer service, horrible management and they handled the situation terribly. I used to be a regular here but I will not be coming back. If you want good Korean food and don’t want to give your money to a restaurant looking for any opportunity to rip off their customers, I suggest Korea restaurant at the u of m or mirror of Korea down the...
Read moreThe first time I went a month or two ago by myself and the lady working was kind. I met I think her husband too and he was also very kind, especially when I spoke a little Korean. The food was really good, just a bit overpriced. The second time I went with my family, 7 people and the lady sighed as soon as we walked in. I wasn't sure if she remembered me but she sat us at a table for 6 and pulled another chair, which wasn't enough room for us so my dad pulled a table from the table of 8 to ours. The lady got a bit upset (saying she was worried a bigger group would come for lunchtime) though understandable as we didn't ask to move the table. She then said it was fine when she saw I was stressed out about it and felt bad as both my parents were losing their patience. She took our order and sighed when we asked for more rice and more extra bowls (we ate our food sharing style for 7 people with little kids) and tried to ask us to move the table back when a group of 8 came but the other people said it was okay and she apologized. After I told her it was "all good" in Korean she seemed to be a lot kinder and she spoke to me in a little Korean after that asking if it was good, etc. I felt bad for my parents as I had highly recommended this place but they felt a bit disrespected by the lady. I felt bad for the lady too that there was probably a lot of miscommunication, but she could have handled it a lot better from the beginning. She definitely is kinder to you if you speak Korean, which shouldn't be the case. I think she also just gets annoyed with larger groups of people. The food was still amazing and I want to come again, but I don't think my parents would want to go again after that experience. I recommend for couples or singles to go...
Read moreI LOVE this place. The foods are always amazing. The staff are always friendly and wonderful. They always gave me comfortable and pleasant experience whenever I went there.
FOOD: The menu doesn't have a ton of options like big restaurants, but you will still have many authentic and signature dishes of Korea. I personally love Kimchi stew and tteokbokki, so I try the stew whenever I go to a Korean restaurant. Their tteokbokki is amazing and unique from what I've tried before. It's very soft and spicy too. Kimchi stew is good, but because I don't like too much pepper flakes in the stew, it would not be my top choice. However, everything else is awesome according to my friends. They also refill the ban-chan (side dishes) at most 2 times if you run out, which I didn't see a lot at other restaurants. Plus their side dishes are very good.
SERVICE: The cook and the server (they both run the business) are super friendly and nice. They call us "honey" and "baby," which makes me smile every time. They aren't just nice to the customers, but also make sure that you enjoy the dishes the right way. They'll show you how to eat those. I went there many times that the server remembers me and knows what I would like to order LOL
OTHERS: Pricing is reasonable and may be about average compared to other places. The place is nice, and it looks like a...
