We had gotten a free dinner and drink coupon upon arrival for an issue with the room, we actually didn't expect that and were so gracious for it and the minute we sat down in the restaurant it was awful, the waitress (Betty) took forever, and there is only two tables occupied, we ordered drinks and dinner and then showed her the card and she looked annoyed. She asked us where we got it, who gave it to us, why did they give it to us, I mean she treated us like criminals. We told her that it was from the front desk attendant Gabby and she said she is new and doesn't know what she is doing. At this point my husband got extremely annoyed and told her that if it was a problem we could just pay for it and she said that she would accept it this time but just so we know she gets no tip off of it and that is how she makes a living and then had the audacity to ask us if we were giving her a tip in cash or on a credit card, because if it was a credit card, she would have to charge us for at least one item. We then asked about dessert and she said we can get a free cookie from the front desk. Never again will we step foot in that restaurant. Everything else was amazing but she really left a horrible mark on your hotel for us. We got the receipt, (which she said we don't need since it was 'free') but my husband insisted, and I left her a cash tip, which my husband said not to and left. This morning I looked the receipt and there was a tip she added herself, 15% plus the cash I gave her. Speechless and so disgusted in all of it. Is this how your hotel works? Scams people? Just so disappointed in all of it. I hope this is an isolated incident or I hope she has moved...

I wish to add to the original post after the restaurant manager reached out after the review. It was nice to know that this is an establishment that wants to make right and rectify a situation in hopes of making it a positive experience.
The service was very friendly and accommodating and worth a stop. My husband and I did very much enjoy some local beers at the bar and because of the time taken by the manager, we would stop back if ever in St. Paul again. Thanks Josh for being a caring and professional leader.
ORIGINAL POST; My husband and I were staying at the hotel for an event in town. We came down to the bar around 3 to have drinks while we waited for the kitchen to open at 4. At 4, he ordered an appetizer of 6 piece dry rub chicken wings. I ordered a 6 piece of blackberry glazed wings. We were both extremely hungry as we hadn’t eaten since breakfast. I had one of mine and thought it was horribly dry. He had one of his and apparently thought the same because we each had two of our own, and couldn’t eat anymore despite our hunger. The bartender came to clear our plates and asked, “was everything amazing?” We said unfortunately it wasn’t, it was dry and we couldn’t eat anymore. He said , “I’m sorry”, took the baskets, and that was it. We were charged for both appetizers, still tipped well, and went somewhere else for good food. Very disappointing the lack of customer care. We were never mean or impolite. Hope they improve for the...
Read moreThe entire experience from beginning to end was laughable. We had a “reservation” as we knew the hotel was booked up and expected a possible long wait. (It is the only food option in the Hilton hotel) The lady at the front desk was less than pleasant when we arrived. She shook her head no as if she never heard of a reservation before or honoring our reservation was not going to be possible. The place was packed….. out of necessity only I’m sure, as I had expected. We were finally seated after about 10-15minutes of them scrambling around. The Bar was clearly understaffed. We sat for 30 minutes and not a single visit from a server. No drink order, no food order, nothing. All we got to watch was a beer bottle being dropped and broken on another set of guests followed by a scene from the insanely unprofessional “manager”. We ended up leaving with nothing after wasting 45 minutes of our time. Not only is this place a joke but the Doubletree/ Hilton hotel it’s attached to is as well. You’re honestly better off ordering portillos from door dash and sitting outside on the curb to eat it. I will literally never visit either establishment ever again. Good luck to anyone who actually attempts either. The “amazing” Hilton review is next and is just a tad bit better...
