SK Coffee: Coffee Bar & Roastery — Restaurant in Saint Paul

This SK Coffee location is not a typical coffee shop. It is a small stand inside of a business complex. It was not where it said it was on Google Maps (lead us to the dispensary). Inside, there are large tables, a bar top, and more lounge-y chairs for seating. There isn't a ton of seating and not a great atmosphere for studying. The wifi is also EXTREMELY slow. Not a ton of outlets around. If you want to catch up with friends or pop in to grab a cup to go, this place might be more your speed. The service is great and the employees are very nice.

They have delicious pastries, however a lot of stars were taken off because the coffee itself was not great in my opinion. I got a mocha and it tasted very "earthy" and borderline burnt. In other words it tasted like dirt. I thought it was just mine, but I tried the normal latte and it had the same undertone of earthiness/bitterness. The dulce de leche was sweet enough to mask most of the gross coffee flavor and was the best out of the three. I hate to be so harsh, but I've tried a ton of coffee around the Twin Cities and I think SK Coffee has the worst coffee. It was very disappointing given the price for a tiny cup of coffee.

SK Coffee is a hidden gem. It's been on our list to try for awhile now and we finally visited to find that it was even better than we expected. When it comes to coffee, I'm pretty straightforward. Give me a bold dark roast with a splash of almond milk and I'm a happy camper. I thought their coffee was excellent, but the ambiance of the space and the building really makes SK Coffee a standout in my book. SK Coffee is located in the Vandalia Tower in Saint Paul and the main floor is open, airy and spacious. Not to mention all of the beautiful, tropical plants and greenery surrounding the coffee bar! If you're not familiar, Vandalia Tower is a former King Koil mattress factory and the industrial vibe is still strong throughout the building, now with a mix of modern artwork and installations. The founder/head roaster of SK, Sam, was behind the bar that day and he was very knowledgable and fun to talk with. Awesome new coffee shop and roastery located within the former King Koil Mattress Factory next to the Vandalia Tower in St. Paul. Large open seating area with a variety of different seating options. This coffee shop is not for those looking for run of the mill average coffee and super-sized sugary lattes. This is the real deal. SK is invested into the craft of specialty coffee and it shows in everything they do. The flavor profiles of their coffees are very unique and do not need to be covered up with cream and sugar. They are truly something to enjoy and savor. I highly recommend their Cinnamon Natural - Finca la Bandida coffee roast. This coffee tastes just like a danish, minus the sugar, and it's all natural (not flavored).
