I usually go to the other location I like the other location better talking food
I had a few small issues why . First the server kept bringing our table crumbs of tortilla chips not joking they were 40%+ crumbs we werent eating them I thought maybe he would dump them nope he added more crumbs on top the pike if crumby chip fragments
Didn't enjoy running out of edible nachos after a few from the top we could salvage
So first of all they need to dump out the crumbs don't serve them
Secondly our fajita steak was literally a steak the chopped through but was connected it was very tough wasn't chopped onto cuts like normal ( going to use the term lazy ) when describing effort to make a fajita meal which wasn't even sizzling for that matter , they had it loaded with vegetables but the steak I had to cut with a knife and if I have to cut my own fajita meat I will just save $90 and eat at home .
The salsa was watered down compared to other location was water on the chips
Won't go back to this location again
Also only 3 people were in entire restaurant 1 guy walked in just when we were done and n der couple was there when we walked in . But 5:30.pm and hardly any customers , might be abuse of lack of effort cooking and properly satisfying guests
With FRESH tortilla chips not crumbs from the bottom . And the cook needs to break down the steak so it's not so chewy
By cutting the steak properly it can cook in between since it's a cheap cut of steak or needs more time and to be chopped into strips not half steak not cut just lines cut
But when you can't tear apart the chunk of steak with two forks and have to physically cut through with a butter knife ? That's not the best experience . So I give honest opinion
I am a certified food judge and 20+ years in restaurants
The location was clean it had a decent bar but no one was at the bar
So they need to try to get people in by making everything the best they can with fresh properly cooked and...
Read moreBest chimis location in st louis. The manager Marlon is so personable and friendly. He makes you feel like family. I've been coming to this location for years now and wouldn't come back if it wasn't for him and his team. All the servers are super friendly and make good conversation with me. Food is always amazing and the portions are great. Drinks are strong too if you like that. 5 stars Edit: 7/30/2022
Place is under new management. I went up to use a free lunch card for frequently getting lunch. I think it was buy 8 get your 9th lunch free. Well the new management wouldn't accept it so I had to pay. Okay not the worst problem. But then I get charged $14 for lunch portion chile Colorado $14! And two workers both said that's the price. On the menu it is $8.95 for lunch.
Needless to say this was the only Mexican restaurant I gave business to. But I will never be back. I've turned so many friends onto coming to this place but I'm going to tell them not to come anymore. Honestly the only thing saving this place from closing is Groupon. It's the only Mexican restaurant on Groupon
Go to diablitos cantina instead. It's a drive but it's far worth it to avoid what ever scam this place is now doing.
New review 2 stars. Chile Colorado was pretty good despite being double the price for lunch. Very small portion though because it's lunch. Lunch should never cost...
Read moreBefore my experience, I would have given Chimi's a 4 or 5 star, but I had a terrible experience hosting a party in their back room. We called 2 weeks prior to a 40th birthday party asking for the back room. Gave someone all of our info, name, number, and number of people attending. Upon arrival, the staff had no idea of our party and were very rude at wanting to accommodate us. At one point, telling us they will not do separate checks for our guests and suggested we "come back tomorrow" if we don't like it. Well, with 20-25 people attending, that was not an option. Our service was slow and tables that were also sharing our verbally rented space were getting much more attention from the staff then our party of 20. We had to get our own salsa/chips 15 minutes after guests arrived, get our own menus, and ask for silverware. We were clearly "unwanted guests" and treated like a burden. Upon getting our checks we were charged 25% gratuity on our bill. Their menu lists an 18% gratuity for parties of 10 or more. We were told we were being charged 1% for every guest. This is absolutely unheard of! They fixed this on our bills, but only after we noticed the large charge, complained, and showed them their own personal policy on the menu. I, personally, have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant. We will be finding a new Mexican restaurant, which...
