A hidden gem. Location is very clean, service is incredibly friendly and staff is very personable and the food is delicious.
Weâve had breakfast here a few times-cheap and enough Cuban toast to make your own breakfast sandwich!!!
Cafe con leche is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites (with light sugar) in this area. Meals/plates are definitely shareable which is what my husband and I normally do.
Today we had the roast pork, yellow rice, red beans (which we always get separately in a bowl) & a beef empanada.
Pork is very tender and was a bit* salty but nothing to âcomplainâ about just want to let folks know. Yellow rice always perfectly cooked and again they give you more than enough to share with another person. Red beans here are my favorite out of the others they have just me personally a lot more flavor / seasoning. Beef empanada was cooked perfectly , crispy it wasnât greasy or oily at all-filling was a touch on the dry side but had great flavor. The fried plantains are also very good for a palate cleanser. Also all meals come with a basket of freshly toasted Cuban bread- so if youâre not full by the time you leave this place then you can put down some food.
Other items in the window which weâve had before was the roasted chicken, shredded chicken and picadillo all of which are delicious- you wonât be sorry and items are always fresh- food doesnât sit long!! Secret I think is out lol.
Location also had a full menu as well, you have to order just things in the window or what you see when youâre in line!...
Read moreI ordered take out 3 weeks ago. Very expensive and the portion was too small for a full order, more like for a child. I didn't say anything about it and took it home. The Beans & meat were really salty. The meat didn't taste fresh. It all ended up tossed into garbage and I ended up eating Ravioli from a can, today I decided to give them a second chance so I bought take out again and "big mistake". It was worse than the 1st time. I called them and told them about the salt and the old taste of the chicken and beans and told them that I was taking it back. . The man that answered, "well..that's too bad. We don't refund anything. He rudely said, You bought it. ,'is yours! I was trying to be polite..and told him..you should tell your cook to use less salt on the meat and beans. He said "I'm not saying anything..then I said .. don't worry! I don't plan to buy food from you ever again good luck, I hanged up the phone. It just happened! I am upset and hungry! Thank God for left overs! The beef steak I cooked yesterday tasted like heaven! Pepo's Cafe is too expensive, salty & Poor...
Read moreI've been living in the area for 2 years. Whenever I had a craving for something rice based / Latin / spicy I would drive 10 minutes south to Chipotle.
I decided to give Pepo's a shot today and this place is now my favorite food spot in the area along with Serbian Mediterranean. I just can't overstate how good the shredded chicken with Yuca was, I was moaning the whole time while eating, it's incredible!
I was skeptical at first because the prices were so reasonable I ended up getting 3 different things because I'm not for small portions however I was only able to get through one of them and saved the rest for dinner that same day. Portions are beyond reasonable for the price!
The flavors, price, location, and speed at which they get food out is just unmatched. It's criminal to live in the area and not give this place a shot, I'll be coming here very frequently...
