My 5th MLB park visit. I like the air-conditioned aspect but this park just seems dingy. I don't know what it is but I felt disconnected from the action on the field for some reason. Maybe it's the sound system? I felt like I was hearing a game going on across the street or something. There are tons of food choices. We chose a burger place advertising Omaha Steaks burgers. We love Omaha Steaks products but these were not good at all. The kids didn't eat their chicken tenders either. $100 for the 5 of us and it ranked maybe 2/5 stars.
If I go again I will wait until the game starts and get tickets for $10 instead of the $42 each for seats in the second deck while probably 20k seats were empty.
The Rays are a good team! Why doesn't the Tampa area support them???
Parking was probably the best I have experienced for $18 right next to the stadium. I imagine that will change fast if they ever start attracting capacity crowds.
The stingray tank was cool. The kids liked that. We have a membership to the aquarium so I was surprised they wanted to pet the rays.
So ... just three stars. Between tickets, food and a stop for one stuffy and two kids' hats at the store, it was a $500 night. That's way less than we would have paid at Fenway Park for comparable seats and parking but Fenway, the least comfortable park in baseball, makes you feel like you are part...

Considering what the team has lost over the past couple years (include Joe Maddon) and the injuries that have decimated the pitching staff this year, it's incredibly impressive and a testament to the Executive Team and Kevin Cash that the team is at .500 and still very realistically in the playoff/wildcard hunt.
Are the Rays the Cardinals, Pirates, Royals, or Blue Jays this year? Certainly not. But they've never been a team with the most talent or high-priced players. They have a coaching staff who can make the most of its players and are a fun team to cheer for. And I'd take that any day to a team like the Red Sox, Nationals, Tigers, or Mariners who have ridiculous payrolls and star players, but have similar if not worse records then the Rays currently do.
Could things be better? Sure. Could the stadium be better? Sure. Could it be in Tampa? Of course it could! But given what this team has brought to the area, particularly the past 7-10 years, and what it continues to bring, I wouldn't trade them for anyone else and am looking forward to the day when the World Series is...
Β Β Β Read moreThis place really grew on me. From the outside it looks like it will not be nice. I've never watched a baseball game in a dome (I'm from Cleveland and a Guardians fan), so I was curious as to how it would be. Once I got inside I was pleasantly surprised at the venue. First off every single usher/tickettaker/vendor etc earns ten stars. Each one was pleasant, friendly and extremely helpful. This tells me a lot about an organization, and the Rays seem to have class from the top down. Thank you to anyone that works there and reads this. The stadium has a fun little stingray pool and some good kids stuff. We sat on the first base side and the Rays first basemen was constantly pointing kids out to throw a souvenir ball at. The stadium grew on me as the game progressed and I got used to the experience. It wasn't a bad place to watch a game. I do have to dock a star because the scoreboards are kind of tough to see and they are old. The Rays won, my boys got a foam finger and I drank some delicious beer, it was...
