Thai-Am Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

I am disappointed in so many ways.

I was excited to try Thai Am because my usual spot is closed Sunday and I wanted Thai. We ordered Pad Thai with tofu and veggies, asked for no eggs because we wanted a vegan dish. We ordered take out, and got home after driving all the way up towards Thai Am, only to be disappointed by the dish. There was little to no tofu in each of the orders, and the tofu in there was completely fried and dry. The veggies seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary. The noodle were completely overcooked to mush and broken into small bits. All could have been overlooked, but we paid $30 total for just these two Pad Thai platters.

I called to let them know there wasn't really any tofu in the order and I was confused why we paid extra for this, especially after we asked for no egg it could have just been a substitute. This is besides the point really, I'm more upset by the way it was handled. I was told there was no way the tofu was absent, and I let them know it was very little tofu in tiny pieces and not cooked well. I was told to take a pic and send to a cell, which then the picture was showed to the cooks. They called back, and I could hear the arguing in the back that there was definitely tofu. I was told they only give two pieces of tofu per order anyway, which is why it's a $2 up charge?

Anyway, money is besides the point with the up charge. I work in customer service, and its best to give someone the benefit of the doubt. I could have called and told them the whole dish was not good and that we wouldn't even be eating them. This Pad Thai was something neither of us finished. I'll make sure to always chose Siam Garden and deal with no Thai food...

Visited Thai-Am Restaurant at 9pm this evening for the first time . We felt for some Thai food , today was a long day, its unfortunate that we arrived one hour prior to the restaurant closing. We were party of 5 . Noting Big boss lady at the entrance like a Samoain security guard watching everything as the the staff was doing a good job . Her facial expression wasn't welcoming. We ordered 1 Shrimp dinner, 1 Thai Snapper dinner ,1 Ginger Snapper 2 fried duck which were fried and too DRY as though it was left overs . So we asked politely for a ginger sauce . The Big bully Boss lady interjected stating "The Kitchen Closed".!! She made NO effort to provide customer service. One of the servers took the time to get a sauce for us , which was greatly appreciated . As we recieved our bill which were seperately done x 5 noting the gratuity was already included once added up it was approx $25 . Then the nerve of Big boss lady had to ask WHY we didnt leave a tip ??? I asked her excuse me ? I responded its included in the bill. She repeated if there was a problem ? I reminded her that we're NOT obligated to give anything, furthermore it was already included in our bill. We definitely would NOT revisit due to her attitude 🙄 unacceptable behavior . 😤

The 1 star is for the Big Bully Boss Lady . She definitely could benefit from a Customer Service Course Thumbs down 👎...

this review makes me so sad to write! it's unfair to put just one star, because i have ordered from here before and liked it especially as a vegetarian. but last night (tues, aug 29) we did an ubereats order that arrived super late (1.5 hours) which doesn't bother us so much, but the food was clearly lukewarm. again, we didn't think too much of it, we were super hungry and dug in quickly. i got pad see ew with tofu, my dad ordered the fresh rolls with vegetables and potstickers.

come 6:30-7am, my dad wakes up pale as a ghost and sweating profusely and starts vomiting. food poisoning tends to hit around the 8 hour mark. we knew right away it was the food, as it arrived very late, barely warm at all, etc. perhaps they were in a rush and didn't cook the potstickers thoroughly, or bad meat, because that's what my dad said he feels caused it. he's been vomiting all day. this isn't a flu, very obvious food poisoning. please, please be cautious of the time you're ordering. maybe our bad luck came from ordering at 7:40ish, and the food came after 9pm. be careful (or i guess become a vegetarian...
