âď¸ The Grind That Time Forgot â Undergrounds Coffee is Brewing Up Magic in St. Pete!
Stepping into The Undergrounds Coffee Co felt like falling into a wormhole of chill. Their sign literally says âRelax, Unwind, and Forget About Time,â and I didâbecause my cappuccino was so good I forgot I had a job.
Letâs talk coffee first. These folks sling shots like a Wild West barista showdown. I ordered a Blueberry Cinnamon Latte, and I swear it tasted like a cozy sweater hug from a lumberjack who reads poetry. My friend got the Honeysuckle Latteâshe said it reminded her of childhood summers but with espresso-induced adult responsibilities.
And letâs not ignore the espresso. That stuff hits harder than your exâs new relationship status. Double shot? More like double enlightenment. Iâve seen the future, and it runs on Cherry Cardamom syrup.
Prices? Super fair. You can get a proper coffee that doesnât taste like burnt regrets for under $5, and thatâs WITH fancy oat milkâ$0.75 extra, but itâs 2025 and our digestive systems are delicate.
Honorable mention: the baristaâs vibes are top-tier. I asked what their âvibe of the dayâ espresso was, and she said, âemotional support cortado.â Sold.
The chalkboard menu alone deserves its own art gallery showingâhandwritten like a love letter to caffeine, featuring everything from Matcha to Macadamia Milk, and even house-made juices for the over-caffeinated who need to cool it.
Only downside? I now judge every other coffee shop like a disappointed Italian grandmother.
âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Come for the coffee, stay because you forgot your entire to-do list. Undergrounds is the best kind of time...
Read moreJust moved to the area from Chicago, and wanted to check out some cafes, as a coffee industry professional for nearly 10 years. I ordered a cortado for-here, and a whiskey barrel-aged cold brew. Both drinks were phenomenal, better than most coffee I've had in Chicago, which has a much more established specialty coffee scene. My cortado was served in a non-traditional glass, but I thought the drinkware was beautiful and unique. Temperature was perfect, and the milk texture was great. What really blew me away was the clarity of the tasting notes in the espresso. The barista was super awesome (blue hair and tatts, wish I had gotten her name), and she served me the Costa Rican espresso, which had distinct notes of cinnamon and clove. It was dialed-in perfectly. One of the best tasting espressos I've had. The whiskey barrel-aged cold brew was so refreshing too-- tasted a bit orangey too, very similar to an old fashioned. Best whiskey barrel-aged CB I've tried, with tons of clarity in the tasting notes and a perfect mouthfeel. Pastries looked super tasty too, although I didn't try any. Will definitely be going back :) Highly recommend all coffee nerds...
Read moreThis is such a great addition to this side of Downtown St. Pete! I love the vibe, the sleek and dark decor, and how minimalist it looks! Under Groundâs really has a very different look compared to other coffee shops and Iâm loving it. The drinks are creative and when I say creative I mean your not going to find something similar at another coffee shop. You can tell the speciality lattes had a lot of work go into there creation! I highly recommend the cherry one! They also have cold pressed juices and tea if you arenât feeling coffee that actually taste good as well as being healthy for you! While they donât have pastries or food just yet I can only imagine how tasty it will be once they get that up and running! I canât wait to see what else Under Grounds does as they...
